After booking with Tuxedo Villas I started seeing multiple reviews citing thefts, which made me a little leery about staying here. But I am glad that I decided to go ahead with my stay, this hotel is definitely a hidden jewel. A friend and I stayed here from Aug 29- Sept 5 2007. We passed this hotel multiple times on our previous visit to St. Lucia, but paid it no mind. This hotel is very quaint with majority of the rooms located in the back, which gives you a real sense of privacy and security and offers peace and quiet. There were other guests staying here but you would have never known because it was always so quiet. The hotel has a small heated pool and a patio area, and is in an excellent location as it's right next to restaurants and across from the beach. For our stay we requested a 2 bedroom 2 bath villa, and were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. Each bedroom contained a full sized bed with dresser, a large closet, and a full bathroom. The villa also contained a nice sized living room with cable TV, dining area and full sized kitchen complete with pots and pans, dishes, as well as full sized fridge, stove and a microwave. James and Ms. Jacqueline were very helpful and always accommodated our requests, as did Marie and Margo. The service here was excellent and at times above and beyond. At no time did we feel unsafe nor did we have any issues with burglary. Tuxedo Villas really felt like a home away from home and I will definitely stay here again.

I have been surprised and disappointed to see the latest reviews involving thefts, as I would not want to see this distract potential visitors.. My son (9) and I stayed there for 5nights in August 07 and had a lovely time, never having any concerns for our safety or our property. It's not the Ritz, but it's fantastic value for money - hard to find in St. Lucia - and the location is hard to beat being a stones throw from the beach and walking distance to restaurants/nightlife/shops etc. The 2bed apartment was spacious and well equipped. Marie was a particular delight - always ready for an early-morning chat and leaping to my defense when she thought I was being hassled by a street vendor close to the property! This place is perfect for the more independant traveller and/or families with older children who prefer to self-cater but who's budget doesnt stretch to a private villa. The "security guard" is certainly nothing more than a young man, but, as stated, I never had reason to feel I may need his assistance. I have been a regular visitor to St. Lucia over approximately 15years. I have stayed in many locations and types of accomodation and if I have learnt anything, the "perfect" accomodation does not exist here - or anywhere. Wherever you go, you must research, plan and travel with an open mind - but remember not to leave your brain at home thinking crime doesnt happen in "paradise". It DOES, even in the most expensive hotels in the world with all those uniformed security guards. This place, however, gets my ulitmate compliment - a re-visit next year.

We stayed at Tuxedo Villas last year and also had a bad experience with burglary. I must say we enjoyed staying here but after the burglary this all changed. We went out for an afternoons fishing and returned at about 5 p.m. there was no sign of break-in but we discovered that some clothing and my cellphone was missing, which I didn't want to carry out at sea.
We went to security and he persuaded us not to call the police and wait for the manager to deal with this. The security guard was indeed a young boy who had no experience whatsoever. The manager wasn't anywhere to be found so later that night we decided to report this to the police. They were very helpful.
The next day the manager turned up and assured us that nothing like this had ever happened at Tuxedo Villas and we had probably misplaced our missing items. NO WAY!
After this they were very hostile towards us and blamed us for what had happened. We feel that it was handled very unprofessionally by the manager and we decided to forget about this bad experience until we came accross the two other stories on tripadvisor about burglary. The security needs to be adjusted here and the management should deal with these unfortunate issues in a better way. The police came back several times to question people but nothing conclusive was discovered. Fortunately the items missing were not of great value, but it ruined the end of our vacation on St. Lucia, an island we really enjoyed.
On the day we were leaving the Lady at the desk called us early in the morning and ordered us to pay our bill immediately, as though she didn't trust us! We were totally insulted by this treatment especially after what had happend.
At the very last moment we were offered an additional free week to stay if we wanted to book for two weeks at the Villa another time, which puzzled us completely after the strange treatment we had endured. I would think twice about going back there unless things have changed drastically with the security, after all, the appartments are very nice.

i stayed at tuxedo villas in october last year .. we stayed in one of the appartments at the frount of the complex right on the road.. OUr first night there we were robbed!! someone broke into the apartment in the middle of the night and stole one of our parties money ( a lot!) and jewelry.. When one of our party came back to the villa and discovered what had happened we ran to find security but he was fast asleep!! he certainly was not ex police but merely a young boy of 19 overworked and underpaid... The management were not sympathetic and took no responsability for the break in kind of incinuating that it was our fault as we were friendly with the local people!!!... THe police also were amazed at tuxedo managements response.. We had to stay on the island for extra nights whilst the police investigated but at no time did they offer us any discount for what had happened whilst on their property.. I love st lucia but will never stay at tuxedo villas again ..

  • Liked — near the beach
  • Disliked — too exposed to main road and not enough security

My brothers and I arrived at Tuxedo Villa at 5pm on 2/10. We were brought to our room by security. We left our baggae and headed to the beach to walk and eat. The next morning, my brother checked his carry on (where he had an envelope with $700) and it was gone. He had taken out $100 before we left for dinner. When we got back from dinner, there was nothing that lead us to believe that there was a break in. We checked everywhere and went to report it to the manager. His response was he probable missed placed it. "They don't have any problems with theft at Turxedo". After double checking, we went back and said we should report it to the police. He said to wait and see if it turns up and he would check with security. He said his security staff were all ex-police. Two days later, he came and told us that security said there was no problems that night. My brother should have never left money in the room, but managements response to the whole nightmare was unacceptable. Please think about staying some place else

Management response from tuxedo-7, Manager
(Management representative)
Mar 7, 2007
It is Quite an unfortunate event when a guest misplaces something money ,clothes or any thing they deem valuable but it does happen. It is understandable that when in a foreign enviroment it is even harder to retrace your steps and remember where this event could have occured.
It is regretable that this occured but it was not on our property that the money was lost. At Tuxedo Villas we pride ourselves on our service and our previous guests can attest to that as our reviews will indicate. Our staff take great pride in our record of exemplentary service with a smile and will continue to do so.
