We travelled as a family of four, my husband, myself and our two children aged 2 and 4 yrs. This was our first family holiday and I have to say it was worth the wait.
I had read up on the hotel on this website and found some of the previous write ups abit off putting and as we were renewing our marriage vows, it's not stuff you want to hear but i'm glad we didn't change anything.
We were put in a ocean facing room on the ground floor and that made the holiday even better. Don't get me wrong, the room was standard and the bathroom was in desperate need of a serious face lift BUT everything worked and if your not planning on staying in 24/7 then it shouldn't bother you. You have the beach seconds from your room and there are places to eat within the hotel and other restaurants outside the hotel. There is also a bank with ATM about 7mins walk away.
The hotel isn't really a kids paradise but the beach and pool kept our two busy aswell as the kids club which is basic but our two loved it! The staff were all great. If your friendly, they're friendly back it's as simple as that. They made our vows ceremony so special and I highly recommend it !!
Our only complant was not being told about the room deposit of £50. They asked for it in pound sterling and give it back to you in local money. So try and pay them in local (eastern caribbean ) dollars and do some shopping at the airport on the way back for all those lovely gifts you feel obligated to bring back for friends and family!!!

Having read some of the indifferent reviews of the Rex St Lucian we were delighted with our two week stay at the resort. The location could not be better with brilliant panoramic views of the whole bay. Accommodation whilst being slightly dated was spotlessly clean and had all the essentials including a fridge, The staff were very friendly and helpful with nothing being to much trouble. We were on the all inclusive option and used all the restaraunts on site which were all of a good standard.

Entertainment is held every evening in the main lounge which we both enjoyed. If you need something more Rodney Bay is only a short walk away. The beach itself is a wide sweeping expanse of white, soft sand.

There are numerous cafes, bars & restaraunts nearby with a wide choice of menu available.

We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the St Lucian and would like to thank the management and staff, especially Francis, Kevin, Timothy and Robert, for helping make our holiday a memorable one.

Fabulous place. Paradise location. We stayed on a room only basis so are unable to comment fully on food as we went out to eat and visited family. Pools fantastic. Rooms good value, reasonable size for 3 star accommodation, cleaned and towels replenished daily - Excellent standard of housekeeping. Staff nearly always very courteous and friendly. The food we sampled (a breakfast and lunch) were of a good standard with easy choices for fussy kids! Lots of seating areas in and out of the sun - garden areas, sun loungers by pool, in front of rooms and on beach directly in front of hotel, snack seating areas and lounge spaces dotted around along with gazebos etc. Other reviews we have read comment on poor maintenance of tennis courts - would agree but never in a million years would we find time to play tennis with all the surrounding beauty and snorkling waist high in the sea right in front of the hotel! Bathroom more than adequate with large shower head and bath option, plenty of clean fresh towels daily. Small fridge and coffee machine in room plus colour TV and good air conditioning if you need to cool off for five minutes in between taking in the beautiful sights. On site shopping mall with gifts for all and some necessities too! If not opting for all inclusive price of the drinks can be a bit steep compared to other local bars but to be expected in the hotel. Choice of bars, restaurants and snack areas (not all open when not in high season).

We can be picky about hygiene but found everything to a very high standard. So impressed have vowed to return to the same hotel just as soon as we can save up to go back!
