“Great stay and value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

We stayed an Rendezvous for 9 days in October. The journey from the airport (taxi) is circa an hour and 20 mins. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and shown to our luxury beach front room which was ideal for our needs. Good sized room, decent bathroom and massive bed! The resort is circa 100 rooms and therefore not too big. Big enough to enjoy the various pools and beach areas, but not big enough to feel impersonal. The beach is lovely and we'd take a daily walk up the beach and pass the locals playing beach cricket or football. The hotel doesn't have a private beach and therefore there are a number of locals who try and sell bracelets etc - whilst they are pleasant, they can impact upon relaxation, but they tend to wander off once they know you're not interested. The food at the resort is great and the Trysting restaurant provides a more intimate fine dining experience - good food too. The staff are all very helpful although they don't smile enough! The inclusive bar selection is very good with the cocktails being the perfect way to get more bananas into your diet! It's a great value for money resort - you can pay a heck of a lot more in St Lucia and the experience will not be better. Highly recommended.

Had a great relaxing time. No TVs in the room was a blessing and staff were great. Would definitely recommend having dinner at the sister resort to help break up the buffet. Not 5 star but good enough

We were greeted with the words "Welcome to Paradise" and it was.

The first part of our seven day stay was in a 'Seaside View' suite. It was beautiful and the best feature in the room was 'no TV'. Unusual maybe, but why would you want to watch it? The beach was literally 30 metres from our door (passed the main pool).

Immediately everything slowed down to St. Lucia time.
The staff were amazing, very helpful and friendly and called us by name from day one, very impressive. The overall service was second to none.
The food was exceptional and I got quite addicted to the locally grown bananas and coconut yoghurt every morning, before hitting the proper breakfast!

The local beach walkers are interesting too, great story tellers, intelligent and not pushy when selling shells or 'grasshoppers'. Give them a little local currency and they are cool.

On day four, we moved to a 'Luxury Beach Front Suite' (in pic) and lucked out with getting a beach level suite. An absolute must if you can get one. Ten steps and you are walking on the sand!
The main pool wasn't too busy and had a very handy swim-up bar. The second pool had a great jacuzzi and little secret areas to chill out, if you wanted to be alone. Even then the bar staff would pop over every 30 mins to offer you a drink. Aaaah! But.....
The sea..... warm. I have never been in a warm sea. Amazing. That was the best part of the whole stay. We didn't even go on any trips because we didn't want to leave it and all the cash we took with us remained in the safe. Apart from tips, we took all it home!

We are going back....for longer.

Room Tip: If you can, book a Luxury Beach Front Suite (Beach Level)

After months of research we decided on the Rendezvous for our wedding and honeymoon destination. We didn't want a beach wedding and our idea of a nightmare is an all inclusive beach resort!! However, the fact that is was couples only and a small boutique hotel with lovely gardens where we could get married, and not a huge resort with a wedding every hour appealed to us.

Karen our coordinator was lovely, we didn't want any fuss and she listened to what we wanted to do. The wedding was perfect and exactly what we had hoped for, very simple and intimate, followed by 2 bottles of sparkling wine and a beautiful sunset that evening.

When we first arrived we were not happy with our room. Karen popped by to say hello and we could not hide our disappointment so she said she would speak to reception. Within the hour we had been moved to a seaview suite which was lovely. This was not the hotels fault, but they moved us free of charge, just be careful when choosing your room. Our first room was just a bit tatty, dark and had no view which considering we were on our Honeymoon we were underwhelmed with.

The food was excellent, my husband and I are food snobs and I am pescatarian but we had some lovely meals both in the Terrace and the Trysting restaurant. We did have an incident on the last evening where the food had run out by 9.10 and when we asked if it was being replaced we were just sniggered at. We called the restaurant manager who dealt with this and cooked red snapper for us which was lovely. The hotel manager apologised the next morning and said he would deal with the staff member in question. This was one member of staff and the management dealt with it well.

Another tip would be to talk to the waiting staff and get to know one of them as the service in the Terrace was hit and miss. Sometimes your plates were cleared and your water was kept topped up immediately and other times we sat for ages and had to try and catch someone's attention to get a refill of water or clear our plates which sometimes we just put on the next table so we had a clear table.

All in all, the resort is lovely, the beach is spotless, we liked the side by the pool bar as it was busier and you could get involved with the activities which we liked to do. The main thing about the resort is the wonderful staff. This is the only hotel where I have had to go and say goodbye to the staff before leaving as they were so friendly. The staff on the pool bar are lovely and would have our drinks ready before we even got to the bar!

The gardens are kept lovely and are full of humming birds darting around, little frogs at night and small lizards. We didn't really use the spa pool except for water aerobics, we did walk along the lazy river which looked lovely but we are beach lovers so stayed on the beach most of the day and moved to the bigger pool for a swim up cocktail late afternoon.

Apart from those few incidents, the hotel is lovely and we will definitely return for an anniversary one day. Special thanks to Karen, Alick, Michaela and Jessica at the pool bar, Carmen and Candice in the restaurant, Veronica on the egg station who was a delight and anyone else I have missed.

Dear Guests
We are so pleased that you chose Rendezvous for your special occasion. At Rendezvous, we believe weddings are sacred and as we are also hopeless romantics, we love to help make couples realise their dream wedding. We thank you for your feedback and your kind comments. We note your comment on inconsistency at the Terrace Restaurant and are already addressing this with the team. Many thanks for your very complimentary comments on the gardens and the staff. They are definitely a great asset to Rendezvous and we are so proud of our team.
We all wish you both many happy years of marriage and look forward to helping you celebrate many anniversaries to come.

We’ve just enjoyed our fourth stay at The Rendezvous: so we obviously like it.

Plus points are primarily that it’s for adults only and the guests are a sociable bunch on the whole, so we always have a fun time. We are fairly easy going and don’t look for things to complain about, and in truth we were very satisfied.

It’s a well-run place, with buffet food that's always pretty good. In the Trysting Place restaurant it’s unfailingly excellent. It’s a good quality experience. It was a surprise to read that a reviewer walked out because of the service: but it’s an evening out, not a McDonald’s. And another complained at being ‘subjected to an a la carte’ experience. Poor thing.

They appreciate repeat visitors in several practical ways (wine / gifts / special dinner) which is a good way to build customer loyalty. We’ve experienced Caribbean Hotels where you’re always a stranger, no matter how many times you go to them, and eventually you stop.

Staff members at The Rendezvous are, in our experience, extremely friendly and good humoured, and we’ve never encountered anyone there who doesn’t fit this profile (despite what another reviewer wrote). Their responses must surely depend on your attitude. The Scuba team are very competent and friendly.

This visit we had a slightly smaller room, but it had been refurbished to a high standard, and so we were very satisfied. Sea views are generally limited here, instead you mainly get the lush greenery of the hotel grounds.

We like the hotel’s location as it has a long beach: great for morning runs or lazy strolls. Yes, it’s a bit weird, being next to a cemetery and small airstrip, but you get used to it. There are lots of locals about at weekends, sometimes galloping by on horses or walking their many dogs, but all seem friendly enough. Some try to sell things, but we had no hassle. It’s also only a fairly short and brisk walk into Castries, should you want a look. On the whole, it’s a city for the locals – not tourists.

An early morning walk to the lighthouse is a good way to start the day – but sometimes the dogs freely wandering around made me a bit nervous. Big dogs barking at you from behind high fences has become as much a Caribbean experience as frogs erupting into song at dusk.

We’ve previously stayed at the Rendezvous’s sister hotel, The Body Holiday, and so did a day trip as a reminder. It has a small beach, but it’s a lovely hotel. It’s well worth a complimentary visit. However, taxis from the hotel are expensive (charging per person for four of us!). You may do better by making your own transport arrangement with an external taxi – or negotiate.

You’ll likely see some rain: but at least it’s warm drops that lash you for a few minutes then go away.

If you need to keep in touch with home then wifi is widely available – as it is in most Caribbean hotels these days. But it is very erratic. As I had to email and manage documents for my business I found it very frustrating and wasted hours of my time. The system needs sorting out or having someone to keep an eye on it.

That was our only little niggle with this place.

I expect we’ll be back some time soon.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms will likely give you a bit of a sea view. Check which rooms have been refurbished.

Dear Guests

Thank you for taking the time to post your review and thank you for your support of Rendezvous. We appreciate your loyalty and look forward to hosting you again in the future.
We note your comments on the one area you felt was disappointing - wifi access. I am happy to confirm that we are undertaking work to ensure the service is consistent thorugh out the resort and not just in certain areas.
We thank you for your feedback and again for your support. See you again!

My husband and I visited the Rendezvous for two weeks in November 2011 for our honeymoon. It is amazing and the perfect place to spend your honeymoon relaxing, drinking and eating! We were given a complimentary room upgrade and were in the rooms by the pool. The rooms were clean and comfortable and we were given a lovely welcome gift of a basket of fruit, massage oil and some rum.
The staff were all really lovely and friendly. You never felt pressured to join in the activities and were never pestered by staff. Definitely recommend the cocktail making competition it was brilliant fun.
The only thing I would say is that we were the youngest couple by quite a long way in the first week! We are 25 and felt our age but it didnt bother us.
We have already decided that for our 10 year wedding anniversary we will be coming back again. We never go anywhere twice but this is the exception we loved everything about it.

Just returned from 9 nights staying at the Rendezvous.

WHAT A PLACE!!!

From the moment we arrived we were sat on the in the terrace area and given a complementary grapefruit based cocktail before being shown to our room.

When we got to our room the bags had already been taken in and were waiting for us. We opted for the "cheap seats" and had a Garden View room. However we were amazed. The room was beautifully decorated and I believe the entire block of Garden view rooms has been recently renovated. Everything looked brand new and the room was spotless. To our surprise there was a bottle of champagne on ice which we enjoyed on the balcony whilst reading the hotel info and studying the handy map. I was so glad we did not pay the extra to upgrade on the room, as they were no closer to the beach, and looked no more impressive the recently renovated garden rooms, so save your money and you will not be disappointed! The bed was huge and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. I miss the sounds of the tree frogs at night.

Having stayed at some larger resorts on other holidays it was lovely to stay in a smaller boutique hotel. It had a much nicer feel to it. the whole place was lovely and relaxed.

Food was plentiful, varied and of excellent quality! I'm not a fussy eater, but even the fussiest would surely not go hungry here! Coffee and pastries available from 6am, Breakfast 7.30-9.30am, Lunch 12.30 - 2.30pm and dinner (most nights) 7.30 - 9.30pm. The view from the Terrace (for breakfast and lunch) is stunning and evening meal is enjoyed (after sunset) with just the waves gently lapping against the shore. Different theme each evening with the beach buffet a personal highlight for me.

You can book the A'la Carte restaurant at reception, we decided to go on our last night, as we couldn't get it booked up as some people seem to book it every night which is a little unfair (so book soon after arriving)

Only thing I would say about the terrace is that for some meals it felt very warm (if there was no breeze) which made eating a little uncomfortable, but the staff keep you topped up with ice cold water which was much appreciated.

Staff were amazing, always smiling and making every effort to ensure your stay was as comfortable as possible. Special mention to Deano. A real character and an absolute legend.

Great beach, choice of pools, secret garden river, plenty of sunbeds so no need to reserve them!

Excellent spa facilities, we had a couples massage which was fantastic.

Don't look at other hotels, there is no need. Book Rendezvous, you will not be disappointed and if you were then i think there is something wrong with you.

would definitely return here!

oh.... No Russians pushing in at the buffet or being loud and obnoxious either, what more could you ask for?

Room Tip: Book the garden view room. They're cheaper but all newly refurbished!
