We stayed at Windjammer fron 21st April to 4th May and had 2 weeks in paradise. I travelled with my now husband and my 2 stepdaughters aged 9 and 11. We had villa 55, a 2 bedroomed ranch style villa. This means the bedrooms are airconditioned, but the living areas and terraces are all open. It was wonderful. The girls loved the fact that birds were nesting in the roof of the terrace, and that we could watch the tiny little frogs at night around the plunge pool ( 14 was the biggest number in one go!)
Check in was easy and efficient. Our villa was not ready, so we sat and drank complementary rum puch as we waited, for all of 20 minutes! We were told who our ambassador was, and during the course of the holiday she checked we were happy at least 7 or 8 times. When she was away for 2 days we had a note at the villa telling us so.
The food here was delicious. I had been worried that 2 weeks all-inclusive I would get bored. How wrong can you be! All the restaraunts are so different in atmosphere and menus. Dragonfly was more the type of menu only adults like ( hence no under 12s except on Carribean buffet night) Papa Dons did amazing pizza and pasta. Upper deck had wonderful sea food, and Jammers was the relaxed turn up and eat! The girls never had any trouble finding food to eat.
The kids club was wonderful. They had a full programme printed and on the wall in the club. We often could not get the girls to spend the day with us, as they preffered the club, with their friends. Everything from being in a fashion show to nature walks, pyjama partys, banana rides and tie dying. The staff in the club were wonderful, and even came to visit on days off as they enjoyed it so much!
The choice of activities is great. I even used the gym for a run a few times. Aquacise was not as easy as Goofy and Ben the instrucors made it look. You could go powewalking up hills, treks along the beach to other resorts, banana rides, tube rides, volleyball, floating trampoloning(superb fun!), or absolutely nothing if you want! We varied day to day as to whether or not we bothered to join in. It was fun watching others on the days we didnt!!
Our wedding was the most relaxed and romantic it would ever be possible to imagine! Simone the wedding coordinator made it all so easy and stress free. The flowers were perfect, the gazebo was so pretty, and they even made me a special wheat and dairy free cake! The whole experience was wonderful, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. After the wedding service we sat in Jammers drinking cocktails, talking to people, going around the bar handing out the wedding cake. We had our meal in Dragonfly, where we had table 123, set back in an alcove, with the flowers from the wedding gazebo waiting for us on the table. When we got back to the villa is was decorated all down the stairs and in the bedroom with flower peatals, and scented candles were burning. It was sooooo romantic!!

Windjammer is a special place. If you want polished perfect marble hotels with everywhere airconditioned, the do not bother going. If you love the idea of being in what feels like a friendly family country club, then you will love it. Yes there was building work, but it was beceause nature had done her worst and taken out a few vills, which need rebuilding. The upper pool by the spa was quieter if you didnt like the children. We came back for this holiday with many new friends, and 2weeks timeshare every year! It is paradise here for relaxed nature loving friendly people. Take the plunge and enjoy paradise!!

Husband and I have just returned from our two week honeymoon at the Windjammer and can only say it was an absolute delight. We flew with Virgin, Premium Economy and will never fly economy again! It was wonderful. Champagne on boarding, no waiting for your luggage at the other end as it has already been found and put to one side for you and much more leg room.

I have to say that I am suprised at some of the posts from guests who were there at the same time as us. To not expect any kids at a resort such as Windjammer during the Easter holidays is naive. It certainly didn't spoil our enjoyment as we stayed away from the areas where families with kids congegrated (very easy to do as there are two pools as well as the beach and the privacy of your own balcony).

So the beach is small! That didn't bother us either. We got our spot under a lovely shady umbrella most days and settled in for the morning. A big plus point was the lack of beach sellers to interrupt your peace and quiet.

We were aware that building work was taking place as Virgin had told us and given us the option of moving resort but we decided that we would take our chances. Yes there was noise but it did not spoil our enjoyment because we didn't let it. This was a special holiday for us and we were determined to make the most of it. At the end of the day what is the resort to do? They lost 6 villas in the mudslides last year and they have to be rebuilt.

The food was amazing with our favourite resaurant being Papa Don's because it was more informal and the staff were friendly without being over attentive. June was lovely and took it personally if you didn't finish your dinner! Husband's favourite was chicken breast in mushroom sauce. The Dragonfly however had our favourite pudding - cappucino cup! It was a work of art and tasted heavenly. The staff there are very friendly but we really didn't need to be asked if everything was OK every time we took a mouthful. Similarly we can fill our own water glasses! All added to the ambience of a top class restaurant but we prefer a more laid back approach.

We went for the breakfast and dinner option and in fact would have done dinner only had we realised how well equipped the kitchen in our villa would be. Breakfast was lovely but some mornings we just wanted to lie in late and eat toast and drink coffee on our balcony. The drinks are incredibly cheap. I drank enough rum swizzles to sink a battleship whilst husband favoured the pina coladas. The fruit punch is also lovely if you want to keep it non alcoholic.

The rooms are well furnished, very clean and very comfortable. I particularly liked the fact that I could peer out the holes in the wall of our bathroom whilst having a shower and see the sea. The views from our balcony were breath taking and we had a perfect view of the sunset every evening. Also loved the mosquito net which made me feel like a princess every night! Beware the mosquitos! They ate us both alive even though we sprayed liberally and made good use of insect repellant. It is a way of life in St Lucia.

The spa is definately worth a visit - I went three times and thoroughly enjoyed each of my visits. Very relaxing and as our villa was literally 30 seconds from the spa very handy too!

The resort is definately not for the infirm as it is v steep. We only called a shuttle bus on the day we checked out, preferring the walk down but we always got one back up and never had to wait more than five minutes. It really isn't a hardship to sit and wait.

Windjammer was our dream destination and completely lived up to our expectations.

We just got back from 8 wounderful days at the Windjammer resort. I read A LOT of reviews before we picked our vacation spot and want to express my thanks to TripAdvisor and all those who rated the Windjammer so accurately on this web site.

Here's my review, based on our personall experience. It was our first stay at the Windjammer, but certainly not our last. Our trip was from March 25 - April 2. We were 2 families (2 kids ages 24 and 26), total of 6, ages 24 - 54. I will give my review in areas of interest.

The Room: We had booked a 3 bedroom villa with plunge pool. Upon arrival, Helen (our Ambassador) was able to get us a very nice upgrade to a 4 bedroom Villa Estate, # 404, "Villa Paradsie". It truely was paradse. The villa was at the top of the hill and the view was simply stunning. Shuttle service was excellent, never having to wait more than 5 minutes to be driven down the hill. And those roads, wow, what a ride. :-) .

Food: All 6 of us did the all-inclusive. Well worth it! We tried all the resturants and enjoyed Papa Don the best. Ate there for 3 of the dinners. The pizza was just outstanding. The other couple we were with are Itilian and they said they were very impressed with the food from Papa Dons. The other resturants were also very good and I can honestly say you won't be disappointed wherever you decide to eat. The 2 girls ( 24 and 26) are picky eaters and found food they liked at all the resturants.

Staff: ALL staff were exceptional, polite, courteous, and very attentive to our needs. They TRUELY were concerned that everything we wanted was taken care of. We used the dive shop and had 4 exceptional dives. We took advantage of the water programs and did skiing, wake boarding, sailing, and snorkeling, and golfed at the St. Lucia CC.

Overall Impression: We were looking for a very relaxed, kick back, veg out vacation. We found it at Windjammer. You can be as active or inactive as you want. We have stayed at many 4 and 5 star resorts throughout the world, cruised the Caribbean numerous times, and can honestly say this was our best overall vacation.

If anyone has questions, please e mail me at the address listed.

Thanks Windjammer, we are already planning our next stay in 07 with you.

We spent our honyemoon at Windjammer Landing and were so impressed with it! I have spent time in other Caribbean islands and did not enjoy them nearly as much. We had a wonderful view of the ocean. The beach was not the largest in the world, but very nice. There were plenty of trees to shade a good portion of the beach. The island itself is rather expensive, so if you're on a budget, you might not get to do all you want. All inclusive is definitely the way to go. We had so much fun with the watersports. We took a Jammer's day sail to the south of the island and toured some there.....definitely worth it!!!
The entire staff at the villa was so polite and treated us like family. The roads are curvy and steep, but we had no problems getting the shuttles to and from the lobby.
I was hesitant about the food at first but it was so very good. Jammer's bar was by far our favorite. We also visited Dragonfly and The Upper Deck, and were very happy with the food at both of these as well. We spoke with a couple who stayed at one of the Sandals there and they were not pleased with their visit. We highly recommend Windjammer to anyone traveling to St. Lucia.

We stayed at the Windjammer from April 21st-26th. First off, after talking to other previous visitors, we decided to fly into the Castries (smaller airport) which was a GREAT decision. The airport is tiny, but it took all of 10 minutes to go through customs, get our luggage, and get into a cab. Within 25 minutes we pulled up to Windjammer.

Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, but the staff was very nice and gave us a complimentary glass of champeigne while we waited... and it was worth the wait. We were upgraded (without asking) from an Ocean View room to a 1 Bedroom Villa. Let me just say, my mouth I think literally dropped when we walked in. We were in #120 (to my knowledge, the higher up the villa, the better, so if you can, request a high up villa before arriving) We had a full kitchen, a living room, a beautiful bedroom, and a patio. It was beautiful!

We did the all-inclusive plan. It was $100 per person, per day. I don't necessarily know if we spent $200 each day we were there, however it was VERY nice to just sign a bill anytime we ordered anything, and not have to worry how much it was... food, drinks, water bottles, etc. Personally we thought the food was pretty good. I really liked how unlike other all-inclusives, it wasn't just a buffet. We actaully never once ate at a buffett. The breakfest was served at Dragonfly each day, and had a great menu to order off of. Lunch on the beach at Jammer's was great. (Great chicken ceaser salad), and we also liked Dragonfly for dinner (best dirty martini I ever had) We only stayed for 5 night, so the all-inclusive was great for us, however if we stayed longer, we may have tried some resturants off the resort for a few nights as well to split it up.

They had a live band playing everynight at Jammer's which was nice, and on Tuesday nights they have a "Manager's cocktail party" which was also nice. Later that night they had dancers and limbo, which was pretty lively.

We found everyone there extremely friendly. Always accomadating, and never once seemed like they didn't want to work there. The resort was very clean, as well as the villas. We sat at the beach each day, which was clean as well. It wasn't a huge beach, but we never felt thast we had to rush down early to get a chair, there were always more then enough.

We did need to take a shuttle service to get down to the "pool/beach" area, but when I tell you the shuttle was outside the villa 3 minutes after we called, I am not exaggerating! We did not find it bothersome at all!

The weather was beautiful every day we were there. Really hot, where you had to dip in the water every now and then, otherwise you would fry! (The forecast said rain before we went, and it never rained once)

As for who the resort is good for: We are a couple, in their mid-20's. I did think there would be more people in our age group. It did seem like there were a bunch of honeymooners (We saw about 4 weddings go on while we stayed there), however there were ALOT of families there with kids. It didn't bother us at all, but I could see it being a little to "kiddy" for a honeymoon.

Also, a side note of some other reviews which talked about being hasseled about timeshare. We were never onced called or approached about time share... So that NEVER caused any issue for us at all.

Overall we had an amazing 5 days. The people were great and attentive, the resort clean, the food was good and the weather was impecable!
Great Vacation!
