“Windjammer is a great St. Lucia option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2009

Windjammer is uniquely built up on a hill. The villas and rooms meander up a very steep incline but it makes for a spread out and interesting hotel. There is a shuttle that runs through the property to pick you up and move you around

I stayed in a beautiful one bedroom suite with a plunge pool and a stunning view of the sea!

We really enjoyed dining at Dragonfly the most - liked the fresh fish especially (but I always like fresh fish in the Caribbean).

There was also a wedding going on while we were there and they had a great tent on the beach and they invited us to join their party! We politely declined, but looked like they were having a great time.

I like Windjammer Landing for a family vacation, wedding or romantic escape!

Staff: Very friendly, helpful in making recomendations and polite.

Villa: Breathtaking, when we walked into the villa i called to make sure they put us in the correct place because i couldnt believe how little we were paying for such a fantastic place. Three levels with a full view of the ocean on each level. It was amazing to go to sleep and awake with the ocean at your door step. Each villa has its own pool and is private enough for romantic adventures. Fully furnished with all your kitchen needs.
There is no tv in the bedroom but i didnt even realise that until i was leaving! The bathroom is a little small and could do with some updating but it is not bad.

Food: The breakfast buffet is good. At the beach bar try the jerk fish sandwich or the chicken roti. do not take the cathch of the day it is oiverpriced and not good at all.

Tips for a st. Lucia Trip: Rent a car, its cheap and will definitely pay off in the long run. It allows you to see the island. Drive down to soufriere to see the pitons. I got sick from the sulphur in the volcano so be wary of it. the botanical garden in soufriere is nice and well kept.

My husband and I just returned from a 10-day stay at The Windjammer Landing and we were absolutely thrilled! My parents had gifted us a timeshare week for our honeymoon, and we spent many hours looking through the book to see where we wanted to go. We definitely wanted more of a "hotel/resort" atmosphere - it being our honeymoon we wanted to be pampered a little :) It was a little hard to find resorts within the "timeshare pool" that had the types of amenites we were after for this trip (restaurants/bars on-site, room service, plunge pools, etc.), but we narrowed it down to five places we thought would work. The Windjammer came through, and I cannot tell you how happy we were when we got there. The people are the most friendly I have ever encountered on a trip, the service was wonderful, food and drinks were amazing, excursions were very well done, and the accomodations were absolutely above what we expected. We would definitely recommend The Windjammer to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing resort with amazing service.

We visited Windjammer in June for our fifth anniversary, and had a fabulous time. The staff went out of their way to see to our every need, and did so with a smile. Ron, Jackie, and Finalia were some of our favorites, but everyone was friendly and helpful beyond belief. We had a one-bedroom villa with a balcony and open-air bathroom and loved it. Our view was spectacular. We booked our reservation through RCI as Hilton Vacation Club members, and apparently lucked out, as this resort typically books a year (or more) in advance through RCI. Our only wish is that there wasn't the "once-every-four-years" policy currently in place with RCI, because we'd gladly return next year... and the next.

The food onsite was great as well. We were presented with the all-inclusive option, which we took. We weren't sure about dining options outside of the resort, as this was our first trip to the island. It turns out there are fabulous restaurants all around the island, which gives us a great excuse to return! Every meal we had onsite was great. Jammers and Papa Don's were our favorites.

The beach is very family-friendly and is manmade. There are fun activities throughout the afternoon, as well as plenty of friendly servers to bring you food and drinks. We took a charter boat trip down to the Pitons and Anse Chastenet beach, which we HIGHLY recommend. Look for Del from Exodus Charters on the Windjammer beach-- he or any of the Exodus captains will ensure a fun-filled day trip. Jackie, the beautiful concierge, also checked on us each day to see how she could be of service. She booked a rainforest zipline trip for us, which was another highlight and is definitely recommended.

We were very sad to leave our new friends at Windjammer, but have no doubt that we will return. We would recommend this resort to anyone!

The experience was great - some tips - make sure you get one of the upgraded suites/villas. We were placed in one of the older ones (#57) - when we called to ask for a change; the staff responded in about 10 seconds with a new villa.

Throughout the week, the maids were helpful, the front desk was wonderful, (thanks to Genny, Richard, Ronald and Nick) Dont miss the fish fry on Friday night - you can sign up at the desk, and take the Seaspray day trip if you want a good overview of the island. Dont event think about the all inclusive plan. As recommended by another Trip Advisor traveller - go to Super J's on the way in and stock up on cereal, milk, drinks, and then suck it up and go to the wonderful restaurants all around - yes, there is cab fare involved. - but heck, how many times are you going to St Lucia - divide it over the year and youll feel better. Dont miss The Coal Pot -
Sandals looked pretty haggard and the word from the "locals" is that they have laid off lots of folks, making the service mediocre, same with Rex.
Wouldnt bother renting a car, (unless you are used to the left hand driving).

All in all, just book Windjammer and quit worrying about which is best - there are pros and cons to any resort - but this one made one feel at home, staff was there for the guests - and it was more sophistocated than the other all inclusives on the island. Mind you - that hillside you see in the photos is really there so be prepared to walk! (they do have shuttles moving all the time though - but then you'd miss the view!)

After going crazy trying to plan a wedding at home, my wife and I decided to do a destination wedding. We spend a lot of time looking at places in Asia, Europe and all over the Caribbean before finally settling on Windjammer, and we were VERY happy that we picked the right place.

Even before we finalized our plans at Windjammer, the wedding planners, Melanie and Simone, were great at answering all of our questions about the resort and the wedding itself. Once we decided upon Windjammer, they stayed in constant communication with us about the various wedding options we had and helped handle all of the legal details and things we would need to get our marriage license. They met us as we checked in and made sure that we were well taken care of right away. We had one additional formal meeting with them before the wedding where we finalized all of the plans for our big day.

My wife was pretty stressed out at first, but Melanie did a great job of getting her to "chill" and from that point on, we just enjoyed our vacation and didn't have to worry at all about the wedding. We had a maintenance problem in our first room, and Melanie personally walked us around the property to show us some different rooms. Any time that we had any kind of problem, Melanie and Simone were able to get it fixed quickly for us.

The wedding itself was gorgeous! We had it at the seaside gazebo, which was decorated with ribbons and flowers and palms. You could not have asked for a more beautiful setting. On one side you had the ocean, and on the other, the beach and Windjammer itself, which looks beautiful going up the hillside. Our photographs turned out so much better than we ever expected.

I could keep going on for ever, but we had such a great experience at Windjammer and our wedding turned out perfectly. Melanie and Simone were so great to deal with and truly made our wedding unforgettable!

Two years ago my wife and I stayed at the Sandals Resort and we thought that it was "Heaven on Earth" until we came to the Windjammer-Landing resort. We initially booked our reservation for seven days but we were compelled to extend our vacation at the Windjammer resort for two extra days because the place is so fabulous. The service, the food, the staff and the list goes on and on were excellent. If anyone is looking for a great vacation spot, well stop looking Windjammer is it.Go and enjoy yourself. It's worth every penny.
