“Worth the wait”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2014

We had visited St Lucia 24 years earlier and had looked on at the Windjammer Landings Resort from a distance thinking that we must visit there some day. Well we got around to it at last and we were not disappointed.

The resort looks spectacular from a distance with the villas built into the palm tree lined hills. Close up it looks even better.

As other reviewers have mentioned, one of the standout elements of this resort is the staff. They are incredible. Always smiling. Always willing to help. The genuinely look like they enjoy their work and that comes over in the way that they interact with the customers.

We stayed for 10 days on an all inclusive deal which was great value for money. I'm not a fan of all inclusive but with 5 restaurants to choose from it reduced the chances of being bored with the same old fair, day in day out. The food was generally very good but from a purely personal perspective I found the food in the evenings to be somewhat underwhelming. The evening menus were designed to be more expensive than the day time menus but really didn't hit the mark for me. Had I not been on all inclusive I might have been a little concerned as to whether I was really getting value for money with a number of the main meals that I had. On the bright side the breakfast buffet served in the Dragonfly was awesome as were the Caribbean and Texas BBQ buffets. Lunch times at both Jammers and Embers were really, really good. Excellent food at the right price band and fantastic service from the likes of Oswaldine and Giselle.

The beach is a great place just to relax and do nothing. Plenty of sunbeds, beach towels and cocktails on tap just a few yards away. .

Our room was lovely. It has a certain dated feeling that somehow makes it better than if it were modern, shiny and new. The hills up and down to these villas are without doubt a challenge but the shuttle buses always seemed to be on hand when required so not a problem.

All in all we loved this resort and it will definitely be on our shortlist when considering our next vacation.

We visited the Windjammer Landing in St Lucia in April 2014. What an amazing trip! The Windjammer is a very clean, peaceful, relaxing, do everything, place with great food! The staff was very helpful to meet all of our needs without hesitation. Very friendly and accommodating! Access to the areas was easy and reliable. The shuttle service was prompt and efficient. We would highly recommend this resort for anyone looking to visit St. Lucia. Couples and families both, have a great place here to enjoy! Water activities and availability were supurb!! Great staff! Hobie cats were well maintained and the staff was great to get you set up without any problem.
We said daily, "what a beautiful place"! Very happy with our stay! Will return with kiddos! In four words to describe this place: we would say Relaxing, charming, beautiful, and plenty to do!
Richard and Lindsay

Room Tip: Room 115 had great views and privacy. Birds were fun to feed on the patio!

We travelled to Windjammers in April for our wedding. It was truly amazing!! Anyone looking to get married abroad in a beautiful location should definitely consider Windjammers.

We chose Windjammers because we are a family of five and needed to make sure that despite the wedding being really important, that the kids (aged 14,11 and 5) were happy and that there was plenty for them to do. We were not disappointed.
We also chose Windjammers, because of the beautiful accommodation. Being such a special occasion we wanted something where we could all be together but was also a 'little bit special'. Again, we were not disappointed.
We stayed in 41ABC, a three-bed villa with plunge pool. It was lovely and we had loads of space. Quite close to reception we were generally able to walk most of our trips to the bars, restaurants, etc, only catching a shuttle when our 5 year old could not make it back up the hill at the end of the day!! Special mention to Nathalie, in housekeeping, who worked above and beyond to keep our room beautiful ,even on occasions when she had to work around the kids!!

The Wedding..... I cannot thank Lynn and Mel enough for their hardwork and dedication at making the day just perfect. We even changed our wedding location from the decking to the beach on arrival, just 4x days before the wedding and they still pulled it off. The beach setting was amazing and I am soooo glad that we got married there. From the location to the flowers, to the décor, to the saxophonist, to the reception, to the food, the cake, the DJ, the photographer, the staff....words cannot describe.... I sit at home now and wish that I could do it all again....
So extra special thanks to Lynn and Mel, whom I have thanked sooo many times already for organising absolutely everything and for being there on the day to make sure that everything ran smoothly!

The sunset Cruise is a must! This can be taken as an excursion or we hired the catamaran for our wedding party the night before the wedding. I didn't want to get off after the two hour sailing trip!! I just wanted to do it all again!! The views are magnificient. The crew are wonderful!!

Special thanks too, to Pam, Ann and Isa in the Spa, who did an amazing job making me look 'glam' on the day!! And my other half will never forget his couples massage the day after the wedding. He wanted to bring Ann home with us. :)
Special thanks to Peter, the photographer who took the most amazing shots and captured our memories for us to bring home!
Special thanks to the Saxophonist who was fantastic on the day and myself and the guests loved. (despite me not being sure about this initially - I took the recommendation from Lynn and Mel and again was not disappointed)
Thank you to the DJ, whom I would highly recommend. Despite only being a small party of 13 we managed to dance the night away!!
Special thanks to Embers, where we held our small reception. The food and service was second to none. Thank you Lewis, for looking after us all so well. Thank you to chef Lawrence and Chef Kendo and everyone else involved in looking after us that day. I wish I had everyone's name to thank individually, not only for the amazing food and service, but for also joining in and celebrating with us.
Special thanks to Big Barry for his marvellous bartending skills not only on that day but throughout our whole stay.
To everyone involved in the wedding day, thank you, thank you, thank you.

With regards to the rest of our stay, we had a lovely time.
The food was always fantastic. We used Jammers quite a lot as this fitted in with the kids. All staff were helpful, polite and friendly. Towards the end of our stay they almost knew what the kids would be ordering. A special mention to Laurelie who took time out of her own day to come and wish us congratulations on the beach after the wedding.
We loved the food at Papa Dons. Again staff were very friendly and helpful. We only managed to eat once at the Upper Deck on our last evening as we had not managed to secure a booking before. This was our only unpleasant experience at Windjammers, when we were almost refused entry as our booking had not made it from reception to the Upper Deck. This had happened on a couple of other occasions at Papa Dons and Dragonfly, but staff always accommodated without any fuss. Not so in the case of the Upper Deck!!

We didn't manage to make it to breakfast on many mornings mainly due to the kids not been ready. So special thanks again to Keane, who brought us room service breakfast most mornings!!

The facilities at the resort are great. We probably didn't take advantage of all that was on offer, but there is certainly a full schedule and not a chance to get bored if you don't like lazing around in the sun.

Everyone within the resort is sooo friendly. We hope to return again one day and I will certainly be recommending to anyone who is looking for a dream destination to get married.

Room Tip: We liked being able to walk to the facilities when ready without having to wait for a shuttle, so ro...

Windjammer

Fantastic place with a good selection of restaurants and bars (important if like us you are on an all inclusive).
The staff are very attentive and so willing to help, this includes everyone from housekeeping to our own point of contact for the stay.
Food is excellent and much better than other all inclusive holidays we have been on. Drinks kept flowing and there was a great atmosphere in the evenings!
The property and location is breathtaking. It is around one mile off the main road which winds its way to a majestic entrance. The beach has it all - quiet spots towards the end with hammocks and a view of the ocean, to an area dedicated to water activities (some of which are complimentary). A choice of swimming pools and shops on site including a mini mart which has everything you need.

We booked the One Bedroom Hibiscus Suite and we were well impressed! Probably the best room we have ever had and certainly on par if not better than our honeymoon accommodation in Koh Samui in 2008!
Large bedroom and spacious bathroom, lounge area with large TV and blu-ray (didn't need this), 2 sound systems, kitted out kitchen and for the first time, a proper utility room with washer and dryer!! This is just the inside.
Outside a huge decked area with a 4 person Jacuzzi and dining table. A short path leads you straight to one of the shared private swimming pools and to the beach.
Very clean and comfortable.
We were lucky in that our room was a stones throw away from the main resort - much of the rooms and villas are on the steep hillside (shuttles travel up and down every 15 mins) but my guess is that while the accommodation is fab all over, the journey up and down may be a little taxing. Anyway like I say - We were lucky!
The staff were wonderful and a number of people stood out for us in terms of making our stay enjoyable (few of these mentioned below).
We tried every restaurant, tried water activities and also the spa. All the while the service was consistent and welcoming!
The Windjammer like other resorts is a popular place for weddings (there were 2 while we were there) but you can easily get away from the raucousness of wedding parties whether it be beach time, drinks at the bar or food!

Managers cocktail reception is a must and the bartenders at Jammers are an awesome bunch of guys!

Big thanks to Essie, Jessica, Glen and the bartenders at Jammers!

Room Tip: Book the Hibiscus Suite - It is well worth it and most are close to the beach!

After having to postpone our holiday from March to May due to illness, I was so delighted that Windjammer credited us fully even though we had to cancel on the day of flying. This is our third visit and we are so looking forward to it based on our previous two holidays. On our last visit we took our son and daughter plus partners and even though we expected them to disappear to Rodney Bay in the evening they were as happy as us to enjoy excellent food and atmosphere and only on planned days out did they leave the resort. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food excellent. We found the rooms clean, well furnished and comfortable and over the past three years have recommended them to anyone who will listen to us enthusing about Windjammer. Looking forward to Thursday 15th!

Room Tip: After our first visit I would say choose a room close to reception but the walk up and down the stee...

We travelled as a family to WJ this April including the Easter weekend.

First big takeaway was the quality of ALL the staff from Reception through catering and cleaning. Their friendliness, helpfulness and positivity was a joy - nothing was too much trouble

Second there are three good quality a la carte restaurants with good menus and a good selection of premium wines complemented by attentive service. Our son who is somewhat pernickety was accommodated - no trouble at all. my wife was enchanted by the quality of the steaks and more particularly the coconut cheesecake. The general restaurant and beach restaurant were also good albeit with more simple food.

Third the beach area is spotless with plentiful sun beds and watchful staff.

Fourth the resort particularly the water sports caters for youngsters and therefore adds to the adult relaxation quotient. We were very impressed with the hotel staff running this aspect - very patient and attentive to ensure maximum enjoyment regardless of ability.

Finally all in all a great holiday and guaranteed repeat business from us

Room Tip: just a note of caution all of the villas/apartments are on a steep sided hill and the laid on (on de...

Total bait and switch! The room pics on their website are NOT what the rooms look like!!! Rooms are ok but worth about what we paid with a Groupon, maybe should be a bit less.

Rooms were clean but shower never worked right. Thank goodness we were traveling with others and used the shower in their room.

One of the two rooms we were in did NOT have a/c in the living room. Even in early May it was very hot returning to the room in the afternoon.

This property is a time share but they did not hassle us about that.

We will not be returning to St Lucia. No where near as nice an island as others we have traveled to in the Caribbean. Waaaay too long a cab ride to get to N side of island and thru dirty and unattractive countryside. Towns were also dirty. Most other Caribbean destinations we have traveled to are enjoyably scenic, not here.
