I have stayed at the harmony now for three years in a row, l wouldn't consider any other hotel on the island. There is no where else l have stayed, that make you as welcome and at home as they do at the harmony , right through from reception when you arrive to the housekeeping and maintenance staff.
The hotel is a budget hotel ( which is reflected in the price ), but it is clean, very spacious , private & friendly.

“Didn't Like Harmony Suites”

A friend and I decided to spend Christmas and New Year's Eve in Saint Lucia and booked Harmony Suites based on the reviews we read on Trip Advisor. Given the number of glowing Trip Advisor reviews for this hotel, I can only guess that perhaps we crapped out and got the worst suite on the property as we did not like the hotel at all. We stayed from December 25th through December 31st, 2007 in room 12, a Premium suite located on the ground floor. Though normally $145 per night on hotels.com, we got it for $116 per nite.

PROS:
- Our room had a nice air conditioning unit. The unit was almost too good as we had to turn it off a couple times to keep from freezing.
- Two closets in bedroom
- The Edge Restaurant has a very nice staff and both the Jerk Beef Tenderloin and the Rack of Lamb were superb. I would suggest passing on the Lobster Bisque though. It just tasted....weird. Also Edge has a really good sushi bar.
- Pretty receptive maintenance staff. Our fridge wasn't working so they brought us a replacement unit. They also replaced two light bulbs that went out during our stay.
- Great location. Though not located on the beach, the hotel really is a very short walk from the beach and is close to restaurants and a supermarket.
- Kitchenette
- Lounging in the hammock located near the Edge Restaurant

CONS:
- As others have mentioned, the property is very dated, very worn and could use some serious TLC (understatement). Normally for a week long trip, I unpack all my things as I hate living out of a suitcase. Not the case here. Nothing in the place made me even want to consider unpacking my bags. We even tried to move to a different hotel, but most properties were sold out.
- The bathroom has really bad lighting. Also, the shower has a half wall which makes it very dark. Once you got past that, you still had to get over what appeared to be the world's grossest bathtub drain and rusting metal fixtures (see pictures).
- Our first fridge wasn't working properly so maintenance brought us a replacement unit. We were glad to have the replacement unit, but it was moldy and rusting.
- Less than friendly staff (except maintenance)
- The Internet cafe always seemed to either open much later or close much earlier than it's posted hours of operation.

OVERALL:
We paid only $116 per nite so I guess we got what we paid for, but I think the regular rate of $145 and even the $116 we paid is too high for this property. Based on the earlier reviews, I almost feel like I stayed at a different hotel. Perhaps, as I suggested earlier, we somehow wound up in the hotel's crappiest room as that is the only way I explain the disparity between the earlier reviews and my recent experience at the hotel. I wouldn't suggest this hotel, but if you aren't picky about where you are staying and are just looking for the very basic accomodations and a great location, then the Harmony Suites may work for you. If you do decide to give it a try, try to get a unit on the second floor. During our stay, there were several heavy rainstorms lasting about 10 - 15 mins, but we wound up with 3 (albeit very cute) baby frogs in the kitchen of our suite. I'm not blaming the hotel for this, but I think we would have had less "wildlife" (lol) to contend with if we had been on the second floor.

MISC.:
- Rodney Bay where the hotel is located has plenty of places to eat and has a nearby supermarket and bank.
- Be mindful of walking as many of the streets in the area don't have sidewalks.
- When we did go to the beach, we usually paid about 20 USD for 2 beach chairs and 2 umbrellas.
- Do bring mosquito repellent.
- The water at Rodney Beach is rougher than any other beach I have been to in the Caribbean. As a result, we spent much of our time in the sand laying in the sun instead of playing in the water.
- For nightlife, we went dancing at the Upper Level Niteclub not too far from the hotel. The club plays mostly reggae.
- We didn't like the food at the Chinese restaurant Memories of Hong Kong and also did not like the pizza from the Pizza Pizza restaurant. We ended up eating at Spinnakers on the beach almost everyday and were never disappointed.
- 26 USD departure tax paid at airport

“RELAXING WEEK AT HARMONY SUITES, BUT WOULD NOT RETURN”

Harmony Suites are actually in Rodney Bay, St Lucia, and offer a good standard of room, for a smaller establishment. They are handily within walking distance of Rodney Bay Shopping Mall and many restaurants. We stayed for a week Bed & Breakfast in December 2007 in a waterfront suite, and although we had a relaxing time, I would not return to S Lucia, as I think the other Caribbean Islands such as Barbados offer better beaches, friendlier people, and better roads!
Check-in was a pain, the room I requested was not available, and there is no curtesy pack in your room, only a few measly coffee and tea sachets. This is a very small place, the tiny shop attached to Harmony Suites was closed on our arrival, and after a hairy 90 minute drive through deadful roads from the airport, we really needed some cool water - also nobody helped with our cases etc, sadly this seemed typical of the service at the restaurant 'The Edge' too. We had our breakfast at 'the edge' but I was not at all impressed, and missed it some days as I could not be bothered waiting for 30 minutes for a very average breakfast. We had our evening meal twice, and this was of an excellent standard, but a bit pretentious, and pricey. We tried other local restaurants, and preferred these much more.
We were not impressed with Reduit beach, lots of beach vendors, and choppy waves, not the turqoise water and white sand we were expecting. We did however hire a car and visited Marigot Bay, which was in a wonderful spot (when you eventually find it), and we travelled to see the Pitons, on probably the worst roads ever -it took us 2.5 hours to go 20 miles! Again you are quite hassled near all the attractions, and we ended up with an unwanted local guide who insisted on staying with us, and then asked for £80!! We also visited Pigeon Island, and found the beach there (near Sandals) much superior to Reduit Beach. The Weather was overall quite poor, lots of heavy showers, locals not overley friendly, and not much to buy, goodness knows how the local people afford anything .
We did meet some lovely people who were staying at the Harmony Suites, and we enjoyed the fact you could sunbathe there without the hassle of vendors, and there is an excellent scuba diving firm, on site. Overall though St Lucia has a long way to go, to catch up with the other islands we have been lucky enough to visit.

“A quiet corner of paradise”

Harmony Suites

I spent just under two weeks at the Harmony Suites on a Virgin Holidays package. I stayed in one of the Classic Suites on the ground floor. A small intimate hotel, beautifully sited on Rodney Bay Marina, and within walking distance of all the bars, restaurants and beach you could want. (Being a cheap-and-cheerful eater I didn't do too much dining at the famous Edge restaurant on-site, so I can't review).

The staff are welcoming and friendly, and I felt the atmosphere to be much warmer than in the big chain hotels directly on the beach.

My room was clean and well maintained, and the couple of problems I had (eg wash basin plug) were dealt with promptly. If I had to book here again I would upgrade to a Waterfront suite to get the full benefit of the location.

Overall, I had a very pleasant stay here.

“Clean and Comfy”

Harmony Suites

We booked this hotel last minute through travelocity, knowing only what we read on tripadvisor and other internet sites. When we finally arrived, we were very pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of our "classic" (basic) suite-- in addition to a bedroom with a king size bed, there is a small living room with a tv, and a balcony with a view of the pool and the beautiful harbor. Though not what one would call a luxury establishment, our suite was clean, welcoming and bright. Room amenities included a/c, toaster, coffee maker, a mini fridge, as well as some plates/bowls/silverware.

Location is great-- Reduit Beach is a short walk across the main road (and actually through a resort), and the small town is full of places to eat in easy walking distance. Our favorite place to eat, though, turned out to be the on-site restaurant, The Edge. Self-described as "Eurobbean" fusion, the place offers delicious food with great service in a very nice, romantic waterfront setting.

The staff at Harmony were always friendly and helpful with all our numerous inquiries about the area. The grounds, though modest, were beautiful and well kept.

It was a pleasure to stay at the Harmony Suites, and I would defnitely consider staying there again.
