We went to Rodney Bay to meet with friends on a Saturday evening, lots of bars and restaurants to choose from, we felt very safe which is not always the case in the Carribean. Try Bambooze for a good measure of rum and Delirious for food, we had the best fish & chip meal there, and good value. Lots to see and do, worth a visit. They have a carnival every Friday night which we missed, but we are told that its one hell of a party!

Just along from Rodney Bay is Gros Islet and every Friday they have their Jump Up party night with local restaurants selling freshly cooked and caught fish, and chicken, and there is music with a street party which starts about 8pm and goes on into the wee small hours. It's fun, the food is great and cheap (head for Dukes place as a start point), plenty of stalls selling drinks and go sample the real St. Lucia! The crowd is a good mix of tourists and locals and the music is varied general dance to begin with and changes to more local tastes as the night progresses.
