“They did a great job on the wedding”

Royal by Rex Resorts

Mar 10, 2008

My long time good friend had chosen the Rex to get married. Smart man! Although a rather busy stretch of beach, their pool area is relaxing and when it came to the wedding, those folks at the Rex did a great job. The setup (in a little cabana right on the sand), with flowers, a minister and a backdrop of the sea and Pigeon Island was superb. Their service, with drinks and snacks and then a seamless transition to a scrumptious dinner afterwards at Chic was impeccable. Complements to Charmion and all her staff.

“Wonderful Time at the Royal!”

We spent a relaxing and fun week at the Royal. Rooms were clean, spacious and the cleaning staff very friendly. Nerissa at the front desk went out of her way to make our stay a memorable one. She is fantastic and if we had a concern she took care of it right away. Darren at the front was also friendly, helpful and always ready to answer any questions. Troy at the pool bar is always smiling and happy to make you any drink. The beach in front of the Royal is the best of Reduit Beach and Rodney Bay. The Royal has beach roundels only for Royal guests There are security guards that watch the beach area and will ask people who do not have purple Royal towels to leave. Locals will approach you to talk and see if you want to purchase anything, like jewelry, but if you say you are not interested they will leave. We actually enjoyed talking with the locals and watching the children during their soccer/swim practice on the beach one evening. Boy, they are in good shape! We ate a few meals at the Royal. One review mentioned the beach food service was slow. We did not find this a problem. Yes, if you want to eat lunch in 15 minutes then you will not be happy but no problem waiting as you are relaxing and reading on the beach. They now have flags that you stick in the sand if you want to order or just order at the lunch area with the staff. Food was very good. We ate one dinner at the Royal. It was a romantic beach buffet with the tables set up right on the beach and a bonfire going. Also 2 buffet breakfasts, which were fine. Some of the staff were not the most friendly in the morning but others make up for it. It is wonderful to look out on the water and enjoy a morning cup of coffee. Tons of restaurants in the area and across the street. Enjoyed the Buzz, Memories of Hong Kong and the Edge. Our favorite meal was in the main town of Castries. The restaurant is called the Coal Pot and is busy so best to make a reservation. We walked around the town market in the morning and then had a wonderful lunch at the Coal Pot.

Our only disappointment was Tennis. They say they have tennis courts but they really don’t. The 1970’s shag carpet they use as the surface has mounds of grass/dirt everywhere and a broken ankle is sure to result from extended play. We really like to play tennis so we had to hop in a cab whenever we wanted to play. They would be wise to fix this if they promote having tennis courts

Lots of tours and adventures to explore around the island as you want. Instead of the large tour operated catamaran ride we opted for a small more personable way to explore the coast and it was fabulous. Look for the bright Rib Rides Inflatable Boat, operated by Bernard and Michael. They go up and down the beach but park usually after 900am in front of the Rex Resort Restaurant. They take 2- 10 people for day trips along the coast and offer half day trips to Marigot Bay or full day adventures to Soufiares were you can easily grab a cab and see the Sulfur Springs and the waterfall. We did the full day and had a blast as Bernard pointed out certain resorts and facts along the way. You can go as fast or slow as you want as the boat can speed along which was amazing. Their number is (758) 718 7941.

I totally recommend this resort. This was our honeymoon and they made it perfect. Our suite was huge and had a private balcony with the best ocean view. It sprinkled with rose petals everywhere when we first arrrived. The staff and managment were so friendly and personable. The resort is set on Rodney beach and if you love soft sand, swimming, and water sports this is where you should be. The restaurants were good. Service is a little on the "island" time so don't wait until you're starving. I prefer having a few of their yummy appetizers then most of their entrees as my meal from their basic restaurant and beach menu. Definitely try their themed bonfire bbqs on the beach and their more upscale restaurant 'Le Chic" at least once.

Overall we loved out stay and St. Lucia is a beautiful island!

“The Royal is THE Best”

We just completed an 11 night stay at the Royal and it is still THE BEST. This was our 4th winter of vacationing at the Royal and we continue to see upgrades and refurbishments where necessary, and even where not necessary - this year there were new bed linens throughout and WiFi service (at no charge) in all of the public areas. The staff, from the Guest Relations Manager, Nerissa Stephen, to the front desk, to the dining room, to the maid service and pool attendants are top-notch. Every employee always seems to go the "extra mile" to be certain that the guests have great holidays. Chic Restaurant continues to provide outstanding food with terrific service - not too fast and not too slow.

We look forward to returning to the Royal next winter.

“Best on the Island”

Royal by Rex Resorts

The last time we visited St. Lucia we stayed at the sister hotel next door, the Rex St. Lucia. I wish we knew that this hotel was there at that time. The Royal far surpasses the Rex. Wonderfully helpful staff we felt we were friends rather than clients.

Wonderful beach, great setting. We would definately go back and soon. They also helped me rent a car where as my agent found that the Avis or Hertz wouldn't nrent to over 65 year olders. And, it wasn't a fly-by-night company.
