We just returned from our honeymoon to St. Lucia and after being back a day my wife and I are already looking into when we can go back. St. Lucia is the greatest place I have ever been! If we could we probably would move there, such a relaxing peacfull place and the food was amazing. Every meal we had on the island was superb, I have never had vegtables and fish as good as what you will find in St. Lucia. They do not use fertalizers on their crops, which makes their vegtables taste much better than anything you will find in the US.
We stayed at the Butterfly Beach House just outside the Castries, it is located right down the road from the Sandals Regency. The beach house was amazing, it had 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms (we used one bedroom and two bathrooms the whole week so think the house keeper was happy with us;) and a full size kitchen and dining room. We had our own full size pool and it was a 2 minute walk to the beach. We had a choeffer we called anytime we needed to go anywhere and a house attendant that came twice a day to make sure we had everything we needed. The owner of the house Alice Bagshaw, is one of the most interesting and sweetest ladies you will ever come across, she made us feel right at home and was always available for anything we needed from her.
We stayed busy most of the week with excursions first day we were there we went on an all day sailing tour of the island, the yacht stopped at a drive in volcano, botanical garden, and some waterfalls, and then docked at a hot spot for snorkling so we did some snorkeling.
Our next exursion was to climb the Pitons (two huge mountains 3000 feet hike). Yeah the climb about killed us it was so hard, took 5 hours round trip but we made it and once we got to the top the views were well worth it. We did ziplining through the rain forest, that was probably my favorite excursion, got to do 20 zips from tree to tree going about 30 mph flying the air hard to describe the sensation but a must do for sure. After ziplining we went and saw another waterfall that was in the middle of the rain forest.
We had a private sunset cruise on a yacht, got on the boat they had two bottels of champain for us and a tray of cheese and crackers and some fresh fruit and we just sailed through caribean having the whole boat to ourself (other than the captain)it was very relaxing. Our last excursion was a two hour horse back riding session on the beach. We road the horse probalby for an hour down a trail that lead us to the beach, I was thinking we just road the horse on the shore, but nope our guides lead the horse into the ocean, so literally was riding a horse in the middle of the ocean water up to the horses neck, it was pretty cool but somewhat scary at the same time.
There is so much more to tell but that is a pretty good summary of our week, highly recommend going to St. Lucia at least once, it is a different world and the most relaxing place I have ever been to, their motto on the island is "No preassure, no problems, and seems the entire island lives by that motto.
