We visit Marigot Bay and always dine at JDs 2-3 times during our stay. The public ferry takes you there at no additional cost and there is always a friendly welcome when you get there, either from the brothers who own it or one of the friendly servers. There is al la carte as well as a fixed price menu, either 80 or 120 EC. First course on the set is either a tasty, fresh salad or fish chowder, which is actually more like a bisque, but nonetheless very good. The main is a mixed grill of fish, chicken, shrimp, mashed potatoes and vegetables, and the desert, banana flambé or split or ice cream. JDs also has a fairly good wine selection at reasonable prices. JD's does not offer haute cuisine, unlike another restaurant on the bay that sometimes disappoints. It's good local food with a great view and a really nice low key, friendly, comfortable ambience that is not offered elsewhere on the Bay. The staff, especially Louwena, are friendly, attentive and efficient. Best to make reservations; and the staff will call the ferry to get you back home. Will we return? Of course.
