“Unfettered veiws... quiet, clean... lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

If you are looking to get away from the crowds and prefer an unfettered view of the ocean, Fond Bay Suites and Villa is the place to be! It is a bit tricky to find the first time (look for the SECOND Escap Development entrance on the right just beyond the first one with the closed gate) but if you miss it, stop by the Fox Grove Inn (just about a 5 minute ride beyond the Escap Development entrance), the food is fabulous and they can give you directions. Fond Bay also offers fabulous home cooked meals, from a limited menu, really great jerk chicken! Fond Bay is super clean, private and quiet with gorgeous views of the beach. We rented a car and drove all over the island but we were always happy to return to our quiet and clean villa. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the beach (where we were COMPLETELY alone). We also enjoyed the lookout points above the beach.

Most of the tourist stuff is on the opposite side of the island (west and north west point). It’s about an 60 minute ride to Rodney Bay and an additional 15 minutes to Pigeon Point if you take the road north. Going south back toward the airport it’s about 60 minutes to Sulfur Springs and Drive Thru Volcano. A few more minutes and you are in Soufriere… where you can take a water taxi to Anse Chasnet to snorkel or dive.. The road between Soufriere and Castries can be a bit harrowing for drivers from the US. Keep in mind the “wrong” side of the road, “wrong” side of the car and add to that the road is narrow and windy with some steep drops and open rain gutters.. It adds some time to the commute but it was a cool experience - AFTER the fact. 

My boyfriend and I had an amazing stay at Fond Bay Suites! Elesia, the owner, was wonderful. She was so informative about what we could do while in St Lucia. She was friendly, welcoming, and a wonderful cook! The place is gorgeous. Our room was large and comfortable, with a terasse looking over the forest and isolated beach below. A 15 minute walk through the forest brings you to to the beach, which was beautiful and totally deserted. Our stay at Fond Bay was relaxing and rejuvenating. We swam in the pool (from which you have a fantastic view of the bay below), ate great food (cooked by Elesia), watched the sunrise over the ocean, and relaxed by the tropical garden. We rented a car and drove around the island, but it was always a pleasure to come back to Fond Bay in the evening where it was quiet and where we got a fantastic view of the stars. Mornings started with delicious breakfast and coffee which we had in the gazebo looking out at the pool and ocean below. All in all, Elesia helped make our stay in St Lucia memorable!

We just spent time at the Fond Bay Suites. The place was a real find it is on a beautiful bluff overlooking the breathing taking sea at a private beach, also over looks a dense forest with a river running thru it.The innkeeper Alisha was extremely knowledgable about the area, and did everything possible to make our stay exquisite.the suites and the service is truly the jewel of St.Lucia.
Love it

We stayed at Fond Bay Feb 2013 for a couple of nights on the way home. It's a bit tricky to find - turn into the Fond Bay estate from the main road and keep going left and you'll get there. 5 suites which have living room/kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Lovely gardens and a great view over the beach, which is about half a mile away and far below. 15 minute walk to beach is fun and interesting - through some rain forest. Beach is glorious but as it is Atlantic and there are big currents here, you have to be careful where you swim.
Elesia who runs it is an absolute sweetie and really does her best for you. Breakfasts are lovely - fresh local fruit and bread. Cooked breakfast available on request.
It's a very small 'resort' and a bit off-beat, but when we were there most things seemed to work and it was very comfortable in spite of the trade winds which can blow a bit. HOwever there are bits that don't hang together - the safe didn't work, nor did our door key! The lighting is awful and there are no bedside lamps. The pool is very exposed, which means great views, but no shelter from the wind. There is a high open-sided room above the pool with a table and chairs.
This place is very good value and has a lovely atmosphere, and Elesia does a good job and is always very helpful. We loved it.

Room Tip: The middle suite has no bedroom window so is a bit dark.

We recently spent 2 nights at Fond Bay and we were surprised by the spectacular ocean views from the property and wondered why no-one’s taking about it. We’ve been around the island and thought Fond Bay was as enchanting as Marigot Bay. They have terraces with little gardens out in front of the suites facing the ocean. Though the property is well above and away from the ocean we could see and hear the waves from our terrace. We just sat out on the terrace for the 2 days we were there and relax to the views and sounds, even hummingbirds came by our little garden area. WOW! We thought it was rather charming.

This property is impossible to find, even with Ross's email directions. I had to knock on the door of a house at the junction of the main road and the little road that leads to the property. The man kindly led me there in his own car, and said I should complain. I did. The impression given by the photos in the site is entirely false. There is no beach, no restaurant (that I was able to find), not even a sign on the property to indicate that it's the one you are staying at. Once there, I knocked on the door that appeared to be the reception, but I was told, abruptly that it was a private residence, and that if I wandered around back I "might find someone." I can't disagree with those who say that it's a secluded place...there's no one there. I laugh at those who comment favorable that the shower has fancy glass. Who cares? This is the Caribbean, not the U.S. or Canada. Where's the charm, the warmth, the island feel? It's totally absent. So if you want isolation and nice glass in your shower...stay home.

My wife and I did a 2 week tour of St. Lucia staying at different hotels throughout our stay with our last 3 nights spent at Fond Bay Suites as it is close to the airport for departure. Having stayed at different places around the island in the same price range or just above we were expecting the same island quality. We were very surprised at the quality of the suites at Fond Bay and how well maintained the place is and thought it was worth a higher premium. The suites have quality brand name fixtures like Kohler glass shower doors, American standard, Anderson windows and doors, beautiful wood furnishings, plush Queen beds, free WIFI, ocean view terraces and a huge ocean view pool with a view to die for.

We were so happy we told Ross the place is better than what they advertise. This is the best value on the island.

We recommend Fond Bay Suites!
