We spent 5 out of the six days in St Lucia at Jalousie/ Sugar beach. The snorkeling off the beach is just wonderful (especially on clear sunny days). I would recommend bringing your own snorkeling gear and water shoes though. The shoreline is a bit rocky and uncomfortable with just your bare feet and having your own gear will allow you to snorkel at your pace. The Sugar beach restaurant is a pretty decent place to eat at Jalousie and you can score some delicious fresh fruit right on the beach from Blaze's kayak. The beach chairs at the resort are available to rent all day for $50 but the simpler beach chairs away from the resort and free for all to use. Kayak and other boat rentals are also available for an hourly rate. You can also catch the water taxi to Antse Chastanet for more spectacular snorkeling ($20 per person for a round trip through Randolph) or to Soufriere for some sight seeing or to Marigot Bay. I personally prefer the water taxi as a primary mode of transportation as it is simply beautiful and you can catch some of the best views of the pitons from the sea. This is a great beach to to just sit and relax on, but it does get pretty busy on the days the cruise ships come to the island.
