“Wonderful - Love the hotel and the island”

We just got home from our trip to St. Barths and we bought the SPREE (5 night) package. I HIGHLY recommend the Guanahani! The rooms were wonderful – we stayed in the ocean bay room (room #66) which gave us an amazing view of the ocean and we had a very nice private porch which we had breakfast on each morning. We also loved the beach at the hotel. It’s located in a cove so the water is shallow and calm. The hotel beach had these great permanent tikki umbrellas and very nice chairs. I had a massage at the beautiful spa which was very good. I recommend reservations for appointments because they seem to keep busy. Also, the guests were elegant and chic, but still laid back and casual. The front desk and concierge were also very friendly and helpful.

We ate at both of the restaurants on the property and both were good (very expensive though – 30 to 45 euro’s for entrees). Service at the restaurants was on the slow side, but the staff was friendly.

Other restaurants that we tried on the island:

La Mandala – in Gustavia for the most amazing view at sunset. Really good Thai food and a hip atmosphere.

Do Brazil – cool/ very casual spot right on Shell Beach. Good food, slow service, fun atmosphere.

Pirpiri Palace – Gustavia Pretty tropical garden setting. Good eclectic food, moderate prices, and a friendly staff.

Eden Rock: the food was good and the view is nice (I would prefer day / sunset as opposed to when it’s dark). It’s very expensive for what you get and I can’t say that it was all that memorable. I would suggest drinks and appetizers at the bar instead of dinner.

We’ve stayed at other 5 star hotels around the world and we were very happy that we chose Guanahani. We liked the small/mid size hotel – it never felt too quiet or crowded. After St. Barths we went over to Cuisinart on Anguilla and there is just no comparison. Guanahani is elegant and chic and the island is sophisticated without being pretentious. We’ll certainly go back!

ENJOY!

“Perfect for Honey Moon”

Hotel Guanahani & Spa

Mar 5, 2008

After our Weeding in Martinique, we went for our Honey moon at the Guanahani Hotel using their 5 days packages (available from May after the peak season).
We had a bungalow with a private pool (Room N°1), breakfast on the terrace/ lunch or dinner and a car for the time we stayed at the hotel.
Included in the package were various activities, like spa, or scuba diving or Jet Ski ride, etc…..
We had the spa and the scuba diving.
Great expérience!
The staff of the hotel is perfect and the food at the restaurants especially the Bartolomeo is gorgeous.

Everything was perfect!

“Great hotel, rooms need to be renovated”

Hotel Guanahani & Spa

One of the better hotels on the island. Has a great beach and two fantastic restaurants. The hotel's beach is located on a cove which is great for swimming and many other water sports. The pool is located next to the restaurant and is inconvenient. If you are a pool person and dont get a room with a private pool, this hotel is not for you.
We stayed in an ocean cove room, which had a great view but was in need of a renovation.
The service is top notch and the food is great, with a wide selection to please a wide variety of palates.
Overall, this is a great hotel and if you dont spend too much time in the room or by the pool, you will love it.

“Great Vacation!”

My husband and I enjoyed a 6 night stay at Le Guanahani in June. We stayed in an ocean view pool suite (room 20) and loved it. Our suite was very modern (there's an iPod player and 2 flat screen TVs in the room), clean, and beautifully designed. The pool was private, clean, and so much fun--it was definitely worth the extra cost.

Food was good, not great. And if you hate cats stay away - there are a bunch of them all over the hotel grounds and they are not shy about trying to get your food when you're eating at Indigo (the outdoor restaurant near the main pool). Beach was nice but not incredible – not really ideal for swimming if that’s your thing. The spa was lovely. Service was good – I think the French are generally not as concerned with time as Americans, so the wait staff did a nice job of doing just that - making you wait. But everyone was still very polite and helpful.

I highly recommend visiting St. Barts during the low-season - it was so serene and quiet and there weren't too many people on the beaches. The weather was beautiful. And clearly, the cost is a bit more reasonable during the low season as well. Only problem is some of the nice shops and hot spots, like Le Yacht Club, are closed during this time of year.

I've been to many islands and wonderful hotels in the Caribbean and this was definitely one of the best. Wonderful place to vacation!

“Once again an Exelent expirience!”

Hotel Guanahani & Spa

I have for many years used the tripadvisor to find and choose acomodations all over the world and have learned to use this valuable reaserch instrument to make sure everything in my trips goes smoothly thank you for all of you who contribute with your reviews and tips!
About Guanahani this is the second time i have been there, first in sept 06 now august 07 and can say that i was very impressed both times with quality of serviçe and acomodations, staff always willing to help ,rooms confortable. Only complaint are the cats all over the hotel even in the most formal dining area i particularly like animals but not rubbing on my leg during dinnner at a chique restaurant like the ones at this hotel another downside is the beach not among the best in the island but the property offers a lot like a huge spa ,tenis courts, fully equiped gym and a varaity of water sports and activities other hotels on the island tend to be much smaller and offer less activities.
Best time of the year to go in my opinion is august because the island is not as full as high season but there are many people from europe due to holidays there, making it not so isolated .
St Barths is an expensive and elegant island with prices in euros so be prepared to pay for the exclusivity and charme of st barths!
