“"A new level of fabulousness!"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

It was our first trip to St. Barths. Several people suggested the Guanahani as well as our travel agent. We had just spent 4 days in St. Kitts which was very nice. We were able to catch an earlier flight and there was someone already from the hotel to meet us at the airport. The hotel and level of service was beyond excellent. This is not the busy season and the price very reasonable for such a luxurious place. The food is quite expensive but after the first bite you realize that you pay for what you get. The best part is when you go to the beach....someone puts your towels on the chairs and then you are left alone. No one bothering you to braid your hair, or buy cheap knockoff sunglasses.
This island is very friendly and no one is bothering you to take a tour or buy a timeshare. Definately a different level than the other islands we have visited in the past. We were only there for 4 days which was not enough. Now we just have to figure out when we can go back again!

“Paradise in St Bart”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

My wife and I stayed at Guanahani for 3 nights in early June 2012 and were simply amazed by the quality of this resort: the grounds, the service, the activities, the restaurants, the beach, and the room. Everything was absolutely perfect and the staff went out of their way to make our visit extremely memorable. In addition to the wonderful oceanside activities like laying out on their private beach, sipping cocktails, and enjoying the watersports, we had one of the most fantastic meals we ever ate at the restaurant Bar'To (AKA, Le Bartolomeo). The concierge was always helpful with their recommendations and everyone very attentive to detail. On our last day, we treated ourselves to a massage at the Clarins Spa which made us question whether we ever wanted to leave. Thanks again, Guanahani, and see you soon!

“Great hotel, more a resort experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

This hotel was super- The fact that its very kid friendly, it being the only hotel on the island with a kids club and a tennis club, not to mention an actual spa, ( Clarins).
Its spread over 7 acres, so its quite big and it's all bunglow style, rather than one building consisting of all the rooms.
I personally liked the renovated rooms, and we stayed at the Serenity Suite # 1. 2 bedroom, 2 floors, with plunge pool.
Most of the activities are by the beach area and yes, the beach is not as nice as the one by Eden Rock, but its still nice.
The staff was super, everyone was super helpful and kind. I highly recommend it.
Breakfast is good, fresh eggs made to order and pancakes. Tons of pastries, breads and cheese/fruits.

Room Tip: Ask for renovated rooms- get the serenity prestige suite if you are over 2 ppl. Its GREAT!

“Great stay at Hotel Guanahani & Spa!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

My husband and I just came back from a 6-night stay at the hotel. Excellent trip overall - here is a breakdown of our thoughts:
-Hotel/room location: the grounds are amazing and the resort is small and intimate so it is very easy to walk around. However, there are a lot of things concentrated by the beach area (which is two hills away from the top of the resort where reception and the spa is). We were in a garden view suite (room #10) and were located at the top of the hills, so every day to get to/from breakfast at Indigo, dinner at Indigo or Bar'to, the beach, the hotel shop, pool, gym, etc. we had to go up and down hills. There is an alternate path for one of the hills where you can take stairs. If at all possible, try to get an ocean view room which will put you closer to the "heart" of the resort.
-Room: our room was spacious and overall very clean, there was a bedroom area plus a whole sitting room with couch, two flat-screen tv's and outdoor space. The bathroom had two sinks, separate shower and the toilet was in a separate room too. On one occasion, we saw a decent sized roach crawl up the curtains in the bedroom. I understand this is the tropics but seeing a roach in the room is pretty gross... We called reception and they ensured that housekeeping would spray the next day.
-Restaurants/Food: food is excellent, especially if you like fish! However, you will pay for water at lunch and dinner (still water bottles are 8 Euro each), the room will come with two bottles of Evian included daily which is handy to take with you when at the beach. Breakfast buffet at Indigo is great - any pastry you can think of is available, yogurt, fruit, cheeses plus all beverages. Also, they will custom-make eggs, waffles, omelettes, etc. The staff is excellent - very attentive, friendly and remember your egg order after the first time! We had lunch a number of times at Indigo on the Beach - the views of the beach are amazing and the breeze feels great! You can find the menu on the hotel page but just beware that if you want to substitute french fries for something else, they will charge you depending on the waiter. I found this to be slightly frustrating if you were just switching from french fries to potato wedges which costs the exact same amount - they will charge you 6 Euro to switch... I might as well order the wedges as an extra item and receive both! For how much food costs already at the hotel, it seems like nickle and dime-ing to charge for this as well. We had dinner once at Indigo (same menu as lunch) and dinner at Bar'to a couple of times. Food was very good at Bar'to but if you eat there a couple of times, the menu will start to be a little repetitive. There is a changing "inspirational" / 5-course tasting menu each night, but portions are small for what you get vs. ordering off the main menu and generally they will give you a sample of the appetizer and dessert from the tasting menu if you don't order it, so it may not make sense.
-Service /Amenities: everyone is so friendly at the hotel from reception to concierge, spa, restaurants and beach, we experienced nothing but excellence. There is wifi included but generally only accessible from the room. There are two tennis courts - you can reserve with the front desk. Also, the gym is small but sufficient, it is well air-conditioned and how can you complain when you're on the treadmill and looking out to the ocean!
-Spa: we had a couples massage and I had a pedicure at the spa. Both were excellent! Definitely recommend the hot stone massage - it was incredible and my pedicure is probably the best I will ever have! The only complaint is that there are mosquitoes everywhere at the spa. Maybe I'm prone to getting bit (I left St. Bart's with over 20 bites... gross...), but I got 10 bug bites within 5 minutes of arriving at the spa for our massage and even got bitten during the massage. We saw mosquito exterminators on site once and didn't really notice them anywhere else on the resort except outside at sundown but they were all over the spa. They do provide bug spray in the room but doesn't always work. Also, there is a pool at the spa, it's very nice and quiet, but doesn't appear like a lot of people use it... we tried sitting out there once but there was just too many mosquitoes around that we ended up leaving.
-Beach at hotel: not the prettiest beach on the island with the seaweed in the ocean but the water is calm and cannot complain about having comfortable chairs and huts for shade. Also, it is great having access to non-motorized sports without a fee.
-Location of hotel on St. Bart's: you can drive from the hotel (one end of the island) to the other end probably within 30 minutes, but if you are not used to driving up and down hills on narrow roads, be careful! The hotel is about 5 minutes from Hotel Le'Toiny and Le Gaiac restaurant, 10-15 minutes from St. Jean/Eden Rock and the airport, 15-20 minutes from Gouvernor and Saline beaches and 20 minutes from Gustavia and Shell Beach. If you go off resort, check with concierge as they have beach chairs and umbrellas to lend you. Just beware of the wind at the other beaches, we almost lost our umbrella a couple of times!

Overall our stay was excellent!

Room Tip: Rooms near the beach - generally they will be the higher number rooms will be closer to most ameniti...

“Private Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2012 via mobile

After staying at the ritz in San Juan, we took a private 5 person plane to St. Barths. We had a week long stay booked at the Guanahani. Upon arrival at the airport, we were greeted by the driver of the hotel who nicely helped us with our bags and loading the car. After a 10 minute drive, we arrived at the beautiful hotel. Some of the reviews on here say that it's a ghost town..but it's not. It's just a peaceful, closed off resort. The front desk Is nice, the views are great, the rooms are awesome, and the whole resort is just such a nice change from the all go life style that everybody lives. Expect perfection and nothing less.
