Well, we have been to St B 5 times and usually stay at a villa, but we had a few nights without the kids and it wasn't enough time for a villa. Here is the issue, sometimes at night the restaurant next door emits (and that is a kind phrase) odors from their bathrooms, or something (whatever, you get the point). We had the room near the restaurant and had to move. If we could have pulled the rip cord that first night, we would. Stress (which is not what St Bs is about). Funny thing about this hotel is that the mornings are wonderful. It has the feel of a villa at breakfast, with limited guests and a nice aesthetic. BUT, bottom line, not again. In spite of this place, St B worked it magic - much to do with great dinners and rum vanille -- just hope that it is not one of the "stinky" nights and the rum vanille has kicked in.

We highly recommend La Banane and will return. Why? Warm, friendly, helpful staff...from Sophie, to Sandrine, Laurent and Caithy to Aida (the amazing chamber maid who instantly makes up your room and keeps it immaculate all day long)...they are all wonderful. Sophie and Sandrine made all of our restaurant reservations(including New Year's Eve). Clearly they have "major pull", as we gained "best table" entre to many of the impossible-to-book, top drawer places. The chic, hip modernist decor is exotic, romantic and very comfortable with courtesy fridge and AV amenities. Every time we passed through or hung out at the open air bar, lounge, deck, swiming pool area we felt as if we were in our own private St. Bart villa. With just 9 rooms (really mini-cottages with terraces), privacy is assured. If you need a break from the pushy, testosterone-loaded, "wannabe" NYC/Hamptons crowd and are looking for a restful, authentic St. Bart's experience, this is the place. In fact, during our entire stay, the atmosphere was very relaxed as were the guests, all of whom were rather chic themselves (about 50% European). Even though we vacationed during the Christmas/New Years peak period, and even though La Banane was fully booked, we luxuriated in the peace, quiet and beauty of La Banane...yes it is indeed charming and we will return!

Be careful!!!!The hotel appeared to be charming on the internet. Once we arrived we were very disappointed. The rooms were very small with no privacy and no screens to protect you from the mosqitos!!!
Upon arrival we tried to decline staying there due to the accomodations and were treated very rudley. We lost our 3 day deposit for the room but did not care anything was better than having to stay!!!!
We ended up going to another hotel and had a fantastic time. try Isle De France, Eden Rock, Tom Beach Hotel or the Guanahani instead.
