“Exceeded every expectation”

I have only one suggestion for you about Queens Gardens: Go! It is in a fascinating location for a hotel, with amazing views from each room. Perched on the side of a mountain. If you fear switchback roads with steep drop offs, don't go to Saba or Queens Gardens. But the cab drivers are experts so these fears are unwarranted. The staff is absolutely top notch, five staff friendliness and helpfulness. Food was some of the best we have ever had on an island vacation. Our favorite little perk was in the afternoon...handmade local ice cream delivered to us pool side. Gratis. What a wonderful treat after a day of diving. Enjoy!

My wife and I have just returned from a "dedicated" dive trip to Saba. We are experienced divers and have spent a great deal of time diving throughout the Caribbean. We chose Queen's Garden for our stay while on Saba. We cannot express enough how pleased we were with every detail of this resort. Owners Hidde and Claire were as gratious as could be, beginning with email requests prior to our travel for special dinner plans, etc. They took care of everything, whether we dined with them or at other restaurants while there. They were knowledgeable about other restaurants and their reviews of them were spot on. Their eye for detail and client comfort was unsurpassed by anyone's standards, and I say this with all sincerity. Their staff clearly enjoys working for them and with us at every turn. Having staff so dedicated to customer care is clearly a result of an excellent working environment. The restaurant was excellent. On one evening the chef prepared a full sushi dinner for us, off the menu. Anything we needed, they provided. Several days we made 3 dives, during which they prepared delicious box lunches. They made all cab arrangements for excursions and even picked up pizza for us after a night dive. We are seasoned travelers and have never felt more cared for than we did by them. I could go on and on, but my point is clear. We visited other "high end" properties while in Saba and nothing else compares. This is the only place to stay on Saba if you want luxury between dives. Thank you, Claire and staff for a wonderful experience. We will return. We used SeaSaba as our diving platform and they too were excellent. These two operations work together like a well oiled machine.

Room Tip: All rooms are suites, but of different sizes. We chose the larger suites, which have a direct view o...

I just returned from a great week on Saba and at the Queen's Garden Resort. The stay at the resort was the best hotel experience I have ever had. This was due to the manager Claire and her wonderful industrious staff. The food was also phenomenal particularly the lunches and dinners. The chef even made a particular dish (really yummy and creative sushi) upon our request.

The rooms are spacious and because you are up in the forest, much cooler than if you were down near the water. Another plus is that there are fewer Mosquitos there than on other islands I have bee to. I still got bitten, but came home with 25% of my normal complement of bites. One lovely amenity in every suite is your own personal hot tub with a great view. It was so nice to come home from diving and heat up the hot tub and just soak in th tub while soaking in the view.

I also really enjoyed getting my open water certificate with Saba Deep - also a great establishment!

As others have mentioned there is no beach and the island is very hilly, but if you want a top notch place to unwind and learn to dive, with few people, Saba is for you.

My husband and I are dedicated scuba divers, always on the search for new adventures in the less discovered places on the planet. How fortunate we were to spend a week on the Dutch island of Saba as guests of Claire and Hidde at their intimate luxurious hotel. It was a perfect place to use as our base for daily forays around Saba, down to the harbor for our dives or out and about to explore the hiking trails and small villages on this tiny tropical dormant volcanic pinnacle poking up from the crystal blue sea.

Everyone working at the Queens Gardens Resort goes out of their way to make each guest feel pampered and welcome. Meals were outstanding, beautifully presented by Chef Kevin and Sous Chef Katie. Whether treating ourselves to fresh local lobster, fresh salads, or a perfectly prepared omelette at breakfast, each dining experience was superb. With ever-present smiles, bartender/waiter Duco brought us poolside drinks and climbed the ramp to serve us dinner in the "tree house." Energetic staff members Linda, Leonie, Marleus and Bas provided fresh-roasted coffee at breakfast and complimentary bowls of just-prepared gelato in the afternoon.

The owners work with Saba Deep to seamlessly coordinate scuba diving reservations, equipment needs and transportation, including owner Claire personally seeing us off each day with clean beach towels as we boarded the van to the harbor. If diving is your thing, do check out our review of Saba Deep.

Our spacious 2-room suite featured quality linens, lovely furnishings and a comfortable bed. The hotel is perched on the steep mountainside, with each room occupying a separate floor, all connected with winding concrete paths and stairs surrounded by lush tropical gardens. We especially enjoyed quiet afternoons by the pool, looking up from our books to take in the gorgeous downhill views to the ocean, smiling as the local roosters, goats and birds provided musical entertainment.

We are grateful to everyone at Queens Gardens for a memorable holiday and wish them continued success.

My wife and I live on busy St. Thomas, USVI, and travel throughout the Caribbean. We sought a relaxing refuge from the deluge of cruise ship passengers that descend on the well known Islands during "Season". And we found it! On wonderfully safe, peaceful Saba. This beautifully maintained, foliage and orchid draped little resort greets you with a welcoming embrace. It starts right at your arrival. As you exit your cab - airport pick-up arranged by the Hotel - in fewer than 10 steps you're at the reception cottage, with proprietors Claire and Hidde awaiting you. So are the cold face towels and glasses of frozen drinks prepared in anticipation. The attention to detail and guest comfort that started there was continued by them, and the staff for the 7 days of our stay. Our Queen Suite was delightful; the afternoons spent sipping champagne in the heated jacuzzi overlooking the town and ocean 800' below were delightfully decadent; and the meals - most of which we ate there, as the food was just sooo good! - were downright seductive. Of all the places we've stayed over the years in the Caribbean, from hyper-expensive to simple and rustic, this is the most memorable.

Room Tip: The suites overlooking the bay offer the best view. Also the more steps you're willing to climb...

If you are looking for a place that goes above and beyond your expectations, the Queen's is the ONLY place on Saba for you. Claire, Hidda and their staff exceed what we in the US expect at most 5 star hotels. From arrival to departure all your needs, and many extras are met with a smile and a "sure, sure". Dinner reservations anywhere on the island DONE. Taxi serivce DONE. Diving reservations DONE., most often you need not even ask, they ask you usually before you have even thought that far ahead. The rooms are outstanding and the views from all areas of the hotel are breathtaking. My only complaint, and this has nothing really to do with the hotel and more the island. The roosters (yes, chickens) began their morning chant at around 4am. If you are a light sleeper this may annoy you the first couple days. If you are looking for a place that is small, quiet, has unbelivable hiking and breathtaking diving, the Saba should be your next destination. Special acknowledgement to : Bas ( your gelatto is delicious, Linde( even though we did not get to dance, we very much enjoyed all our converstaions, and Duco ( spending time just hanging out was awesome)and Clair(your are not only an amazing business woman you are definately one great lady to chat with)

Room Tip: Rooms facing the bottom that include a hot tub are AMAZING!

Prior to travelling my husband and I check trip advisor to aid in making a decision about our hotel choice. I hesitate to write a review about Queens Garden resort and the family of Claire, Hidde, Willim and Max because,,,,well, we want to keep them a secret and not share! We have just returned from our second trip to the beautiful island of Saba and a stay at the Queens Garden Resort. The minute we landed in Saba we felt right at home. Our stay was great, too short and better then the first. There really is not much more we can say that has not already been said in previous advisors. We look forward to our next visit in August! Who knows from there???
