This charming and very comfortable French gastronomic restaurant is a breath of fresh air in the sometimes sweltering, bustling and uncomfortable downtown area of FDF. The front door is locked at night and equipped with a door bell so as to keep the more colorful elements from coming in. (It really adds to the exotic "To Have and Have Not" Bogart allure of Martinique)
You immediately perceive "La Cave" is a special place when you enter and observe the large assortment of single malts, fine wines and other luxury foods for sale.
The service is "Old World". The owner quietly moves about ensuring all is well in a manner that makes her presence hardly felt. It is a very pleasing feeling.
The food choices, while limited, are excellent: fresh foie gras, tropical fusions, seafood, beef, lamb chops and so much more. The wine is excellent and fairly priced.
It is very clean, comfortably air conditioned and, hands down, my favorite place in Martinique.
