We were pleasantly surprised to find an affordable hotel that was close enough to walk to the nightlife of Esperanza yet far enough away to be very peaceful. The hotel has a beautiful common area with a pool that helped us beat the summer heat. If you want to be in your own litte area of the property I would suggest the Casita which is right off the pool, very nice. The big bonus of the hotel are the owners, J and Lisa, who gave us great insight into the island and pointed us in the right direction every time we had a question. I would highly recommend the Esperanza Inn and the island of Vieques to any traveler.

This is my third time visiting vieques and my third time staying in Esperanza Inn. Every time we go back there are new improvements and the same personal and freindly service. You cannot beat the location. Now that we have a baby we can put him to sleep at night and walk with the carriage to all the shops and restaurants and enjoy a drink without having to drive afterwards. We're from the opposite side of the island so it's just a couple hours and a peaceful ferry ride away and we feel like we're on vacation. Lisa and Jay are always great!!! I saw another review that said she didn't treat "local" clients the same as foreign and that is completely ridiculous. Maybe she doesn't speak fluent Spanish but she does try and being that Puerto Rico is a part of the United States what country is she supposed to go to? It just goes to show that there are some people you can never please.

My girlfriend and I stayed two nights at the Esperanza Inn in early October and had a wonderful time! It was our first trip to Vieques and J., the owner, was great to chat with and cheerfully answered all of many our questions. Our room was very nice--bright and clean, with a big shower, and AC (which we didn't even need). The little dip pool in the yard was a nice feature, too, as were the beach chairs and coolers available to us. We also enjoyed the puppy and kittens being temporarily cared for by J. and Lisa.

On the last day, our publico driver did not show up to take us to the airport and J. went the extra mile (pun intended) and offered to drive us so we wouldn' t miss our plane.

Most of other reviews have already said all that is needed to be said. Great location, friendly and helpful owner, clean rooms. We checked in and J offers me a beer out of the honor system fridge. "First one's free, after that just leave some money in the jar," he says.

Good times. It was like taking a vacation in someone's house. My only regret is that we only stayed for one night.

At the last minute, my boyfriend and I decided to spend a few days in Vieques and were lucky enough to be able to reserve La Casita at Esperanza Inn for 2 nights. La Casita is a small cottage that is separate from the main building. Neither of us had ever been to Vieques before, but from the photos on the website for Esperanza Inn, the place looked like a nice place to stay. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised as the Inn offered more than we had anticipated.

We took the last ferry to Vieques, and didn't arrive until after 6pm which is when the office typcially closes. The Innkeeper, Jay, stayed late to wait for us to check in. He was very friendly upon our arrival, and showed us around the property. The Casita where we stayed in beautiful. It is small and cozy and offers privacy for a couple traveling together. It is newly remodeled and decorated nicely with a double bed, private shower, and air conditioning. The property is secured with a locked gate, and can only be accessed by people staying at the Inn. When staying there you have access to the pool, a grill, a fully equipped kitchen, and beach equipment. It was nice to be able to bring food to cook out, and not have to worry about bringing any utensils or cooking necessities.

The location of the Inn is perfect. It is in walking distance to all of the restaurants and bars on the Malecon and also within walking distance of the beautiful beaches of Sun Bay (although it is a long walk, and some may prefer to take a taxi). The Innkeeper, Jay, provided us with great information on the restaruants and bars as well as the Biobay tours which are very popular when staying in Vieques. Jay was again very friendly and also candid with us as he told us his honest opinion on the quality of food and the prices that the restaurants offered. We found the information helpful and enjoyed all of the places he recommended. Jay also let us store our luggage after we checked out on our last day so that we could go to the beach for the day before taking the last ferry off the island. We really appreciated being able to have a secure place to store our belongings so we could enjoy yet another day on the island.

Overall, we had an absolutely great time in Vieques and at the Esperanza Inn. We will definitely return to the island, and will only stay at the Esperanza Inn.

Just came back from our first visit to Vieques. Being a local we ask around to some friends and family and the name of Esperanza Inn came up more than enough for us to give it try....Lucky us we had a great time and realize that the location, service, cleanliness and facilities where part of what it makes this place a great place to stay.
We look foward to our next visit to Vieques and for sure will stay again in the Esperanza Inn.
