I, My husband and our three sons (17, 15, 11) spent our last morning out with Captain Judi and First Mate Katie, and it was our best morning of our thoroughly stellar vacation! Judi is a font of information about the island and the marine life surrounding it.
We enjoyed a delightful (and comfortable!) sail out to the reef while Judi, definitely a pro in her role of captain/hostess, chatted and pulled our sons into the conversation. Once at the reef, Judi educated us about the various types of marine life we might see, accompanied by commercial charts and personal pictures from the actual snorkel site. Then it was over the side and into the fun!
At the very beginning of our snorkel, Judi named herself "swim companion" to our eleven year old son and he was thrilled because he "got to see everything first!" The list of "we saw's" is extensive: all varieties of parrot fish, damsel fish, nurse sharks (a 12 footer!), rays, and two barracuda. Though she can't guarantee what you will see while you're out, Judi does a fantastic job of being sure you DO see whatever IS out!
The food was delicious (yummy pina coladas, too) and our trip ended all too soon. It was the unanimous opinion of all our family that snorkeling with Captain Judi was the one thing we would all love to do again.
If you have the chance, experience this trip. All the snorkel boat trips run approximately the same cost and we had been told by a local fishing charter captain (Captain J - Amity Charters!) that Judi's mooring (snorkel site) was the best on the island. Any money spent with Judi is well spent - spoken from one who will shop for hours to find the best deal!
PS For those who may be fearful of boats, unknown people being in charge of their safety, parents in general...we were uber impressed with Judi's awareness and attentiveness to all aspects of our safety.
