I cannot stop thinking about (and talking about) Mosquito Bay! What an amazing experience it turned out to be! Both myself and my boyfriend were so amazed with this tour that we were absolutely giddy!! We went with Abe's and had Elizabeth as our tour guide. She was absolutely fabulous, passionate and such a helpful guide. She provided us with a Baby Oil and Eucalyptus Oil mixture to rub all over our bodies due to a certain kind of fly that can really get you good on this Bay. It worked really well, so if you go out with someone other than Abe's, I would suggest bringing your own, and don't be shy with it... slop it on every inch of exposed flesh! (Plus it made my skin totally silky after washing it off.) But after you get out there in the kayak and the sun goes down, you will completely forget about the little flys. There really isn't any words good enough to describe what it's like to be paddling through the bay, with glowing, darting fish all around, and the glow on your paddles... it's mind-blowingly beautiful, as well as a tad eerie! I could certainly see why the natives thought this Bay was haunted by spirits. If I saw flashing lights deep in the water of the bay, with no scientific explanation, I'd probably be tempted to get all superstitious as well! We're for sure going back to show this amazing natural phenomenon to my boyfriend's sister towards the end of this year. And don't plan on bringing back pictures, because you need a highly specialized and light-sensitive camera to have pictures actually come out. Don't miss this... put it on your bucket list... period!
