Lizards on the ceiling, fresh fruit in the kitchen, and great homemede bread every day. Who could ask for more? The architecture is refreshingly simple, yet in perfect balance with it's surroundings. Shower in the sunshine and dry off in the morning breeze. Frogs calling at night, roosters in the morning. It really is the ideal combination of a luxury hotel & camping. The staff is exceptional. They really help make the most of your visit. The pool is paradise. Don't cut your stay short or you'll be sorry!

Beautiful layout. Comfortable and seductive. We stayed in loft five, which had spectacular views. Michael and Diane are great hosts who pay attention to detail without being overbearing. We were supplied with fresh breads, eggs, coffee and fruits. Great to cook your own breakfast! Super soft shirts to lounge around in. Get familiar with constellations, the night sky is stunning. Highly recommended for the perfect getaway. Vieques is loaded with great restaurants, with both high end and local food. Do take the staff's recs. They were on the money. Will absolutely return.

We went to Vieques the first time 22 years ago, while visiting a freind stationed at the base. We are puertorricans, and we had traveled extensivelly the islands of the Caribbean. After this visit we had come to the conclusion that this island doesnt have anything to envy from any other island in the Caribbean. Specially if you decide to stay in a place called Hix Island House. This was the best decision we had made, no phone, no T.V., no noise, just nature and friendly staff. It is what I call beach luxury. Simple high tec architecture , no frills, outside showers, confortable beds, well planned design with cross ventilation, high ceilings, wonderful kitchens which include the supplies for a good breakfast, a real nice pool, and a very attentive staff. What else can you ask for?!?! We definitely recommend this place if you are in a need for relaxation and an absortion of nature. The island had become something we hope the natives will be able maintain:chic casual beach life. Good luck to all.
