We visited Luqullio beach after a visit to El Yunque. It is a less than a couple miles away from the turn-off on Rte 3. for El Yunque. Upon arrival at the gate we were charged a couple bucks for parking. Was surprised, but at the same time we weren’t. It was a nice paved parking lot.
The bath houses were closed, and had they been open, we would have been charged $1 to use them. My wife changed into her swim suite in the bathroom. There were plenty of permanent vendors there. We didn’t buy any food (as we grabbed a snack at the McDonalds just up the road).
The beach was beautiful with the tall palm trees in the background. They also had what I think was a shark net up, keeping them coming close to the shore. My only complaint was there was strong seafood type smell. It was kind of nasty to me because I am allergic to seafood. And it was not the typical sea smell I am used too. After a while I kind of got used to it.
The beach was very clean. However, I was surprised at the amount of seaweed that was on the shore for a beach that you paid for. It was not well groomed in this fashion; however, on a Thursday afternoon in March, it probably isn’t beneficial enough to have someone out there cleaning it up.
Overall, it was a nice beach. I took some great photos of my wife and me here. It is very picturesque.
