This hotel offered low rates, a casino, free parking and a pool. If you were going to spend any time here you will be driving to what you want to do. It is about a 20 minute drive to Ponce, very little to see here. It is about 35 - 45 minutes to a good beach, we liked Playa Santa the best. The hotel staff was pleasant and very helpful, the casino look like it was good size but did not go in. The room was clean, the shower could use a little more scrubbing. This hotel is good if you are just passing through, we stayed 2 (really only 1.5) nights because we caught the 4AM Jet Blue flight out of Ponce. If I had to do it again, I would have stayed somewhere else longer before coming to Ponce to catch our flight or would have liked to try the hilton but it was a last minute trip during the holidays and most of the hotels were full.

After a rough night at Hotel Belgica, we opted for a safe bet: The Holiday Inn, tucked away off of Route 2 outside of Ponce. I had my doubts about staying at a casino hotel. What about drunk people coming back from a night of slots? I had nothing to worry about. From the time we arrived, the staff at the hotel did their utmost to make us comfortable. We got a quiet room on a nonsmoking floor with a view of the pool and the ocean across the road. There was some white noise from the road and the AC unit, which put me right to sleep.

The room was enormous, and had everything we could need. I will say that the hotel is a little damp - but that is somewhat to be expected in a seaside hotel. The hotel bar staff was very friendly and made us great drinks. I even scored a recipe for coquito (Puerto Rican eggnog).

My only complaint? Don't try eating at the restaurant. I sent my coffee back twice because it tasted like chemicals. And who wants to drink bad coffee when you're in the middle of Puerto Rico?

In general it was a nice stay but there where a few small details that would have made it excellent. First, on our first night when we went to have dinner, the host made us wait like 10 minutes to sit us, and even though she was attending someone at the podium she didn't even greeted us and told us to give her a few minutes until she finished. Then the server we had, it took her about 12 minutes to get to us. She passed us by 4 times and the restaurant wasn't full at all. There where like 6 other tables. In the morning, breakfast was amazing. Great buffet and server and host very attentive. At the pool we spent a nice and quiet time but there is no one to pass by and ask if we want something to drink. The pool was empty only 3 people and us, and later just us 2 but still it would have been nice if someone passed by and offered us something to drink or eat. Room was excellent, houskeepers 100% good job. Clean, neat, good furniture, very comfortable and complete. Casino 100% love the carpet, machines, service. Room service was very fast and complete too. Overall the facilities are very good and comfortable, the place is neat and clean, very well cared for. Love the quietness, privacy and service. Except for that first night dinner and the pool, its just perfect. Thank you!

This hotel was such a relief after the previous one I stayed at in Rincon. What's nice about this place is that it sits on a hill and there is a really good view of the sea. We wanted to upgrade our room which they accommodated for us, albeit on the smokers floor, but it didn't smell like smoke which was surprising to me. I was so glad for the laundry facilities on our floor, but I had to go a floor up to get to the vending machines because the one by our room was broken.

There is a casino which was pretty crowded and noisy but we didn't really hear it and the pool was really nice as well. Overall, if I was back in Ponce, id definitely would stay here again.
