“Great Fort! Better than a lot.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

This fort was huge! I've been to some pretty sorry forts but this one was not! It was great. 6 stories. There is a free trolley that will take you to the next Fort as well. Take it. It looks close but it is hot hot hot. Save your strength.
Also, take a walk through the cemetery outside the wall. Beautiful!

“Amazing views, beautiful fort, worth a stop!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

It gets really warm in Puerto Rico and there is little shelter here to avoid the sun. We went early and avoided the crowds and the severe heat, although I was still sweating quite a bit. The fort is pretty cool and its fun to walk though all the old passages and stand in the towers out over the wall. The views are second to none in San Juan and I recommend climbing to the top and looking back over old San Juan. They were extending the path from the gate around the front of the fort while i was there, would be great if it went all the way down the coastline. This is signature Old San Juan, and you owe it to stop. Admission is only $3 and if you move quick, you could be in and out in 30-45 minutes, or a few hours depending on your pace. The train does come all the way up to the front door, if you are feeling lazy!

“Cool place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

Right by the cemetery, lots of opportunities for photos, can take the free tram or do some walking. We liked the fact that you could buy one entrance for two for 10 bucks then visit both San Cristobal and Del Morro. We opted to walk and take lots of pics. Others were flying kites which was cool to watch. Very near to museums as well.

Can't beat 500 + years of new world history. Beautiful place by the Atlantic Ocean. Worth the visit!

“Nice walk and good for history buffs.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

Tremendous views. Park Service runs this and is v helpful. The Castillo and all of Old San Juan reminded me of older villages in Spain that I have visited. The European style walled city of Old San Juan may be the only one like it in the US.
