“Fantastic service and an even better shower!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Loved the service; friendly, hospitable, and intimate. With only a couple rooms, the staff knows you by name and how you like your coffee (which is exceptional and brewed fresh). The location in Condado is ideal; you can walk most everywhere and it's only a short taxi ride to Old San Juan. The icing on the cake is the luxurious shower; definitely built for two :)

My husband and I selected the Olive Hotel based on reviews and the website for our 5th wedding anniversary trip. I was concerned after reading some reviews about the open bathroom plan, and I was able to confirm by email that the room we had booked (lagoon view) has frosted glass doors around the toilet. The hotel is clear that its rooms are not for the modest - it is most definitely a couples / romantic destination. We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived - in fact, we arrived a few hours early and our room was ready. The staff were helpful throughout our stay with whatever we needed. We also got to know a few of the other guests while there because of the intimate nature of the hotel (15 rooms). A decent breakfast is provided and there was a Nespresso machine for the first two days but it was removed when they ran out of pods. There is a happy hour on Fri and Sat evenings for guests with sangria and cheese/olives on the rooftop deck. The decor of the hotel is much of its charm - it feels like an oasis from the streets of San Juan. We loved going back there each day. Located in Condado, you need to take a cab or bus into Old San Juan (we walked once but it is far). There is a FREE bus that runs along the main road of Condado and we were able to take it to and from Old San Juan. There was also a jazz festival in the park nearby which is the last Sunday of every month. I did not realize until the last day that there is a beach behind the park which is perfectly nice for swimming. This hotel is located close to the Vanderbilt which is still being renovated but I want to recommend the restaurant, 1919, for special occasions. At the very least, go to the bar for a mojito.

We absolutely loved our time at Olive! The staff was so professional so and so polite! Even though there was a mix-up with our room at check in they fixed everything quickly and even gave us a free upgrade for the remainder of our stay.

The rooftop bar is amazing and definitely one of my favorite places to relax during the day and have a drink in the evenings. The restaurant on site was so delicious too and I wish we had eaten there more! We loved everything about our trip and will definitely be staying there again.

Great comfortable room, great service, great food, great location, and great decor. I loved every second of it, and the rooms are suprisingly sexy. If you have a chance, have a drink at night on the rooftop, it is a great place to have a cocktail and ekjoy the view.

Room Tip: It has few rooms so it might not be possible, but see if you can get a room facing the lagoon.

This is a hidden little gem, just tucked away from the bigger hotels along Condado beach. While it didn't have the sea views of some of these other hotels, it made up for this in charm and attention to detail; and there was a lovely roof-top bar which looked out over the lagoon. The hotel staff, as mentioned in many of the other reviews, couldn't have been more helpful, advising us on where to go, booking us onto a tour of the rainforest, and saving breakfast for my husband and serving it on the roof terrace when his flight was delayed and he missed our first night in San Juan. Nice little touches like brownies by the bed, constantly replenished mineral water, and complimentary sangria and cheese on the roof on the Sunday evening (which softened the blow of being there alone my first evening) really marked out this hotel from is generic competitors. I had stayed the week before at the Caribe Hilton (impressive in its own way) as part of a conference, but I far preferred the personal treatment, and romantic setting of this little boutique hotel. We also loved the shower, which as the pictures show, is in a big glass box in the hotel room! Our only problem was the slightly loud air conditioning that kept waking us up. As Brits we aren't used to this!

Dear Ruth A,

Thank you so much for taking of your time to leave us such a fantastic review about your recent stay with us at O:live Boutique Hotel.

We are all thrilled by your comments and delighted that we are on a par with many of the hotels that you have stayed in. It is always lovely to read that a guest has enjoyed every aspect of the hotel from their luxurious bedroom with that amazing glass box shower, to the attentive care and warming welcome of every member of our staff.

It is true we are so lucky with our location. O:live is tucked away making it very peaceful but still only moments from the hustle and bustle of the Condado area. I'm glad you enjoyed our Cinq à Sept on the weekends. Wasn't it lovely to be sipping a nice cold Sangria, nibbling on cheese and olives while glancing at the golden Condado lagoon?

All the team at O:live look forward to welcoming you back and hope that it is before too long.

With warmest wishes,
Josh Ortolazza

My husband and I stayed here 2 nights October 3-4 before leaving on a cruise. We absolutely loved everything about it. Only downside as other reviewers have indicated is no closet space, but it was really not a problem for us. Every employee that we encountered went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed. I had forgot a key to one of our suit case and they got someone to bring something to the hotel in order for us to get it opened. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the hotel last month and cannot say enough good things about this unique property. The hotel itself is gorgeous and comfortable. We really enjoyed the weekend happy hour that they host at the roof top bar, as it gave us the opportunity to meet other hotel guests and share recommendations about what to do while in PR. The continental breakfast was a perfect start to each day and we did dine at the restaurant one evening - incredible food. The beach is a short walk from the hotel, as are casinos, shopping, and restaurants. The staff was the best we have ever encountered and we felt that they truly made the hotel something special. They went above and beyond to ensure that we had a fabulous stay. Karina, Dennisse, Amanda, Shirley, Franchesca and Raul - thank you for the outstanding hospitality! If you are in San Juan, this is THE place to stay.

Dear Tracey C,

Thank you so much for such a wonderful review!

I enjoyed reading how much you loved your stay at O:live! I'll have to agree that our complimentary sangria happy hour "Cinq a Sept" is a great opportunity to meet other guests and share options on what to do around the island.

Our whole team prides themselves in ensuring that all of our guests are looked after and cared for from the minute that they enter the hotel. It is always a lovely to see that this has been recognized by our guests and the team are thrilled by your comments regarding their service.

We hope to see you again before to long so we can take care of you once more time.

With warmest wishes,
Josh Ortolazza
