We eat out quite a bit and travel a fair amount. This is one of the best meals I’ve had in a couple of years. It wasn’t just about the food, which was fantastic, it was also about the room and the experience. Our service from start to finish was nearly perfect; attentive without being overwhelming, knew the menu, and took care of everything with a smile.
On the menu?
1. Empanadas: very good, a nice way to start
2. Heirloom tomato salad with parmesan cheese ice cream (new on the menu): don’t look at me like that, just order it and thank me later
3. Tuna skewers: impressive quality tuna
4. Baby octopus casserole: yes it’s true, baby octopus can be comfort food.
Two of us had the above in courses and shared each one. I think it was perfect for two people. Be sure to check out the cocktail menu, they have some great stuff on there. My girlfriend had “the perfect lady” and a watermelon mojito. I had the millionaire and then switched to wine. All very good.
The final bonus is the neighborhood. Some of the postings about the “sketchy” neighborhood are from people who haven’t travelled. The neighborhood is perfectly safe and normal, it’s just not resort and tourist. Do yourself a favor after dinner and take a walk. Just follow the sound of the music and you’re sure to find a little entertainment, cheap beer, and locals enjoying the evening. Hell, my girlfriend won $10 in a hula-hoop competition.
