Galluzzo Bistro Cafe is located on Isla Verde, across the street from the Burger King, and immediately next to the condo building in which I was staying. I was craving sandwiches on good bread, and when we first walked into the cafe, we immediately asked if they were selling just bread. The gentleman behind the counter said that unfortunately they did not, but directed us towards a bakery close to the Ritz Carlton, and even told us what bread to order (as well as the differences between local breads). I was very pleased with such customer service and decided to return the next day to try some of their fare.
Galluzzo Bistro Cafe has a very European feel in that it is small, with a few basic (metallic) tables and chairs, and the centerpiece is a display fridge showcasing all of the various sweets Galluzzo was selling - from various pastries and strudels, to chocolate cakes, to puddings and macaroons, for a moment I was transported to Hessen, Germany. The staff was friendly throughout. I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich (simple enough) and my friend ordered a breakfast sandwich. Later I noticed that there were options of bread, but none were offered tome. I am ultra picky with my food, and won't eat many, many things because of an addition of a small spice. My sandwich arrived on a foccacia bread, which had seasoning on top. I decided to tough it out and finish it, as it wasn't that bad (the spices were drowning out the simple taste of ham and cheese). My friend's breakfast sandwich, on the other hand, was fantastic. The bill for those two sandwiches, two bottled waters, and a Coke was $23, which wasn't that bad, considering how much food you get.
Since I didn't want to write a review about Galluzzo based on that experience which left me neither here nor there, I decided to return, and this time I, too, ordered a breakfast sandwich with ham, along with a bottled water. The sandwich was excellent, made with panini bread, fried eggs, lettuce and tomato, and cheese. Simple, to the point, and delicious. My friend had the same thing and enjoyed the food as much as I did. The two sandwiches with two bottled waters and a Coke came to about $25, which is, again, not that bad.
What I really liked about this place is that the people working here are friendly and quick, and are willing to help you find other places as well, in case they don't have what you asked for. I wish the server asked me what kind of bread I wanted the first time we visited, but this is not something that can not be fixed. Recommended.
