My mother and I often visited this charming little restaurant when we were in Old San Juan. We discovered it on our very first trip to this beautiful island. We fell so in love with Puerto Rico that we decided to go live there after I retired ( my mother already was). We remained for 5 marvelous years! We would have lived in Puerto Rico for the rest of our lives if it was not for a family situation that, sorrowfully, had us return to the mainland. Puerto Rico had become our home! Mother and I went exploring our environs alot, discovering many new places. We always enjoyed the typical dishes such as pastelon ( made with plaintain) and bistec encebollado (steak with onions served the Puerto Rican way, with extra flavor). The coffee was truly excellent . ( Very good coffee grows in Puerto Rico, in the mountains, mostly in the western part of the island). What a gem of a restaurant! We felt like we were in a warm-hearted friendly family. The food is very well prepared and the prices are so much more reasonable than in the States.
