“Paella Heaven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2013

This was the second Spanish restaurant we ate in Old San Juan. They have nice flamenco dancers outside to lure you in..it worked, ha. We had their Spanish beer and ordered their seafood paella. It took about 45 minutes but well worth it. Its served in a huge cast iron pan they bring out to your table. Very satisfying and tasty. We had dessert but I cant remember the name of it. I will tell you that is was deep fried white cheese sections paired with an eggplant marmalade, yes that's right eggplant marmalade. This dessert was also served in the first Spanish restaurant we ate at but we were unable to try it because they were out of the marmalade so I made sure we tried it this time. Its the perfect blend of sweet and salty. They were going to have a dance performance at 8pm but we had to go so didn't catch it. We had a great time!!

“Flamenco Ole!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

This is a jewel in the Old City. Reservations are required to see the show. The restaurant is rustic, very Spanish. The building once housed a bank, back in 1906. The menu includes tapas or appetizers, Spanish, Puertorrican and Vegetarian dishes. The food is good. Our party ordered paella, salmon, spaghetti, and seafood in a coconut sauce. Sangria was good although pricey, and the coconut flan dessert was great. The show started a bit after 8:30pm. A nice gesture was to greet the clients who were celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, honeymooners, tourist from out of town, etc. Their dancing is passionate and graceful. Later they ask the public to join for a dance class. Don't miss de original vault in the basement. It's historic!
I would definitely return on weekdays, but would prefer the tapas, skip the Sangria. I'ld pursue their salsa dancing on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
All in all, the experience was very good.

“Watch your bill”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

This restaurant has lot of atmosphere and the food was quite good. We had a very expensive sangria- 30.00 for a carafe, and ordered Seafood Paella for two at 50.00 . I asked for a little chorizo to be put in the paella as well and the waiter boosted the bill by 15.00, even though other paella dishes on the menu that included chorizo were only 5-6 dollars more. He truly took advantage. I also ordered a flan which was excellent and priced fairly at 6.00. I recommend if you go to this restaurant you order strictly what is on the menu so you can contest the charges if they are made up by an overly solicitous waiter that will constantly call you princess in Italian.

“Great Paella. Horrible Service!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

Had business dinner for 5 on a Sunday evening. Waiter only in charge of three tables. After initial drinks, didn't come by for another 30min until food arrived to refill water & drink orders. Then auto-tipped 18%. Wasn't worth 10%. No wonder the old man didn't care. Paella was very good though.
