“great until . . ..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

The food and drinks were tasty and plentiful. The guide was smart, knowledgable, and informative. The guide was also professional in most regards, but some of her comments at the end of the night revealed a prejudice against New York-born Puerto Ricans.

Dear Borikwa, we thank you for joining us at Flavors of San Juan as a valued guest. We are happy to hear you found the cuisine and beverages served on the tour “tasty and plentiful” and our guide, Mikol “smart, knowledgeable and informative.”

Mikol has been a highly regarded and respected cultural tour guide with Flavors for more than a year and has time and again received 5-star reviews here on Trip Advisor and on other forums remarking on her knowledge, warmth as a hostess and professionalism. I find it incredible to believe Mikol was anything but open and welcoming to any and all guests on our tour, given she has lived and studied abroad in Spain, France and traveled extensively through the world with her previous job working on one of the largest cruise ship operators in Europe.

Her tolerance and interest in being with people of all walks of life, among other attributes, is why we value Mikol as a part of the Flavors of San Juan team.

Warm regards,
Leslie Padro, owner

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

We decided to take this tour after hearing how great it was from a fellow traveler. My wife and I both like to eat traditional foods wherever we are travelling. If you like to do the same then I suggest that you do this tour. The guide has a lot of knowledge about the history of San Juan, as well they also know quite a bit about the food that you are eating as well. They will also tell you of places that are good to eat that you haven't gone to on the tour.

“Great Cooking Class in Old San Juan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Our group had a great morning with Kathy learning to cook an authentic Puerto Rican lunch. The class was fun, informative and most importantly... delicious! We're looking forward to trying to recreate our Tostones Rellenos & Flan for ourselves now that we are back home.

“Recommended by a local!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

I took a Flavors of San Juan dinner tour in March 2013 - I had heard lots of great things about their tours, and the month before I had really enjoyed the lunchtime market tour. The Old San Juan dinner tour was terrific! Our guide Hiram was passionate about the history of his city and had lots of little anecdotes to go along with the history of San Juan and his knowledge of the architecture all around the colonial city. The food was a perfect pairing - even though I'm a local and am familiar with our local cuisine, the choice of restaurants was terrific and all of the food was delicious. It's so great to get the star treatment at all the restaurants - each time, we barely had to wait for our food to be served, and the service was great.

I highly recommend this tour for families, groups of friends, and even locals looking for something different to do. There are other tours in Old San Juan, but this is definitely the best one - they are professional, fun and a great value. I'll be back the next time I have family or friends visiting the island!
