“Great location & equally great beach access”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

The rooms are small, but efficiently designed (think Europe). The chairs & umbrellas & towels for use on Condado Beach made things really relaxing. I really dislike the whole "resort fee" concept as being nothing more than a way to get you to pay extra for your room. In this instance I was OK with paying it as I felt what I was provided at the beach equaled what I would have paid from a private vendor. The hotel also has a guest washer and dryer. There is a nominal cost to use the machines, but if you stop at the front desk they will give you complimentary soap & dryer sheets.

I was at the Doubletree at the same time as Stewart B. who wrote "Watch out for the resort charge." My only complaint actually is about the "Resort Charge" - I agree with Stewart on that, my feeling is just tell me the full price upfront and be done with it. Aside from that though, I loved this hotel and even with the Resort Charge I felt it was a good value. The hotel is in a great location - simple to get to from the airport, easy to get to Old San Juan by bus (75 cents - you can't beat it) and right off highway 26 if you want to go to El Yunque or really anywhere else in Puerto Rico. The beach is a short walk, also simple to get to and really nice. The hotel itself is modern, really clean and well-maintained. The staff is outstanding - everyone was incredibly friendly, polite, efficient and helpful. The heated pool and hot tub were sparklingly clean and the pool area was always neat and clean. They continuously brought out clean towels. We were forced to stay three extra nights because of the storm but everything worked out great. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would stay there again. Just one other thing, we went kayaking in the mangrove swamp at Pinyones and that was fabulous - highly recommended though it was kind of a pain getting back (no cabs - had to take a bus to Isla Verde and then a cab.) The little food shacks at Pinyones are really fun but leave early (before 12:00) because the traffic to get there is insane - this was a weekend, don't know how it is during the week.

Room Tip: Rooms are a little small but that's because it was me, my wife and two teenage sons - I probably...

Buyer Beware! If you are in need of a place to stay that is cost effective in any manner avoid this Hotel. The cookies are good but the cost is pretty high. Any quoted price is simply a base price and like all other hotel chains they will tack on the taxes in the end. However, the extra $27.50 per day "Resort Charge" is a blindsiding little gem they so happen to skip in any price quote.

The only reason that these bunch of thieves got an extra point from me is because of the valets.

Utterly disappointing experience all the way around. I expect more from the Hilton chain. But I guess dishonesty is the way of all American Business these days.

I was taken advantage of in a time of need. Because of the overreaction in the North East to a simple snow storm I ended up staying in Puerto Rico 3 extra days. I had to find a place to stay and a way to live for those days. This was the lowest quoted price with a decent hotel rating. The convenience fee, or "Resort Charge" as it is called was not mentioned or quoted to me until I received my hotel bill at the end of my stay.

STEER CLEAR OF PUERTO RICO, unless you are extremely wealthy. This is an island of money grubbing, overcharging slime. The place reeks of disdain for tourists and is hostile to "foreigners".

We stayed for 3 nights and loved it. The hotel itself was very contemporary and modern, with a very friendly and helpful staff. They had everything you could ask for, gym, business center, pool, restaurants close by. Our room was spotlessly clean and had a very comfortable bed. The room was not large but they made very good use of the space. They had a nice big flat screen tv, wifi that was very fast, and a nice hot shower. My only complaint was the sliding glass bathroom door, didn't really give any privacy, not a problem for us but could be for others. It did have a resort feel and there was a supermarket right across the road which was convenient and only about a 15 minute walk to Ashford Ave., where all the action is. It is not directly on the beach but they do have a little beach shuttle that will take you there, although it's only a couple of blocks to walk. The bus stop to catch the bus to Old San Juan was right across the street, a very easy way to explore the city. Our room was nice and quiet for sleeping, yet everything you needed was close by. This resort was a great value compared to other hotels in the area.

The Staff are very honest, honorable. I lost my wallet, I had cash, credit cards, important documentation, etc. The Valet found it and give it to the manger of the hotel, they call me immediately. The next they I went to the hotel to get my wallet I had everything inside.

This hotel was very convenient to our rental car drop-off, to great restaurants, a grocery store, the city bus stop (to head to Old San Juan), and about 10-15 minutes away from the airport by taxi. The room was clean and comfortable, and the pool area was very nice. The resort fees seemed unnecessary (not really a resort; most hotels have pools/fitness centers/restaurants), so that bit was the real negative to our stay.

Room Tip: The elevators are slower than normal, so take the stairs or get a room on a lower level if this is t...

This hotel is very well maintained. Rooms are very clean and nicely furnished, but a little small. Bathrooms have tiled floor to ceiling showers. Location is nice and appears to be relatively safe. About two blocks from the beach and dozens of restaurants. I was traveling for business so the free wifi was appreciated.
