While vacationing, my husband & I prefer guesthouses over resorts, and that is why we selected L'Habitation. We went on a 3 day cruise out of Puerto Rico and then stayed an additional 3 days here. Our room was neat and clean. However, we had no hot water for our entire stay, and there was very low water pressure. The property is in need of tender loving care. What bothered us the most was seeing flags that were torn and tattered. And the resident cat uses the nice sandy courtyard as his litterbox - do not go barefoot! The owner was away during our stay, but did return the day of our departure. When we told her we had no hot water or water pressure for our entire stay she responded by saying that the entire city was experiencing problems. That's all she could say. Then to our surprise, we received an email 3 days after our return that they came across a bar bill that they did not include in our final bill and they took the liberty of charging our credit card. I have stayed there many times and enjoy it everytime- Marie, Michele and Arturo feel like old friends- just a great place to stay all the way around- Charlotte is a nice addition to the staff- Andy

I found this place to be quite unique. Maria was a very helpful hostess and always ready to help. The place was clean, right on the beach, and offered a nice little breakfast. I found it wierd that there wasn't windows, just metal shudders. Also there we got five keys included with our room. Lastly just be sure to print up the address and the phone number, because most of the cab drivers don't understand english.

Having stayed in Puerto Rico numerous times and all over the island, I think we have finally found a place to call our 'home'. Small, quaint, and very friendly this is NOT your large chain hotel. But if you are liberal (this guest house is very gay friendly) and not afraid to talk to people, this may be the place for you. We stayed here for three days before our cruise and for two days after. There were several gay couples we talked to who stay here year after year and are part of the L'Habatation family. I think Marie does a wonderful job of making her guests feel at home!
It's very difficult in PR to find a decent room anywhere under 150.00 and this really fits the bill as a clean, safe and friendly guest house. The perks are the courtyards, the beach a step away, the communal fridge, the walking distance to Condado and the owners themselves. Try it you'll like it!
