We spent 1 night in the Sheraton Old San Juan the night before our Royal Caribbean Cruise.

We found the hotel to be of about a 3 star standard. It served the purpose we wanted it for but I didn't see it as a hotel you would spend more than a couple of nights in.

We arrived at the hotel at about 11pm after a long flight. The taxi ride from the airport didn't take long although the traffic around the hotel was very bad and we were stuck in a queue for about 15 mins. We checked in smoothly and were given a free upgrade to the 'governers suite' which was nice. I feel bad passing comment as we were upgraded for free but I will mention a few things about the room in case you are thinking of booking that room. The room was huge with a seperate bedroom, bathroom, big lounge, dining area and 3 large balconys with a great view. It was nice but VERY dated. The decor was very tired and grubby and I wouldn't have been happy if i had paid extra for that room. There was a lot of traffic noise outside the hotel and we could hear car horns from the room at night. The pool on the roof of the hotel was small but we didn't have time to use it anyway. I felt that the hotel was nice and friendly but in desperate need of a refurbishment. As i said ,if it's only for one night it's fine and it was clean!

We ordered room service as it was late when we arrived, the food was nice but expensive! The whole hotel including the room rates are very pricey but I think this is common for San Juan with it being a cruise port.

The hotel was positioned right near the Carnival Cruise pier which would be ideal if you were cruising with carnival. The Royal Caribbean pier was over the other side, which we knew before we booked but it wasn't a problem to get a taxi and only took a few minutes.

The hotel is ideally located if you want to explore Old San Juan, like we did! We had a full morning before our cruise to look around and found it to be very charming. We explored on foot and visited one of the forts and walked to the cathedral and round the brightly coloured houses and shops. San Juan is really a beautiful place to visit.

The only major problem we had was when we arrived home and checked our credit card. There was a £16 charge on it which we had no idea what it was for. We paid for room service in cash when it was delivered including a tip and had nothing else while we were there! After sending numerous emails to the hotel i have heard nothing back!

My Family and I stayed at this hotel for just one night. We were going on a cruise the next day. From the time we checked in with Front Desk to the time we checked out, the experience was the best. For 6 rooms to checkin at once, we were checked in within 20 mins tops. We went straight to our rooms, changed clothes, and went walking the grounds of Old Dan Juan. Let me just say night time, Wonderful. From the restaurants to the shops, everything was awsome. Our rooms were on the 7th floor with a beautiful view of the water and cruise docks. I was very sad that I had to leave the next day on my 7 day cruise. But, whenever I do the cruise again, I'll definatly stay here.

Rooms: Excellent!
Bathroom: Clean
Service: Excellent!!!!!

We, a family of 5, stayed at the Sheraton Old San Juan before and after our cruise. The hotel it's self is very nice and the room was comfortable. Unfortunately, the staff needs to work on their politeness. The reception staff was the worst I've encountered in a long time. They weren't really outwardly rude, just snide and uncaring. For example, we had booked online in a room that said it was a suite; when we arrived how ever we were told that in fact we had booked a jr. suite. Even when I showed her the paper work confirming our reservation in a suite she didn't believe it. Finally, after 10 minutes of this going back and forth she gave us the regular suite. Now, I'm pretty sure it was the smallest suite in the whole hotel but it worked for our short stay. The same thing happened during our stay after our cruise, with a different receptionist no less.
The other thing I found odd is that if you are under 18 (like our 3 boys) the only way you can get to the burger restaurant located in the hotel is to go and walk around the outside of the building. So if you have children and want to eat there but it happens to be raining you better have an umbrella.
All in all though for our quick stay before and after the cruise it was a good stay. The hotel was good and the location can't be beat!

We stayed at this hotel prior to our caribbean cruise and post cruise prior to flying back to Nor-Cal.
1.Location ,Location,Location-Right in the heart of Old San Juan, all the great shopping, walking distance to the Forts of El Morro and Christobal -a stones throw to the Carnival embarkation pier.
2.Grreat service-as a longtime SPG member check in was a little crowded on cruise sunday -However George at the front desk provided us with excellent service and upgraded us to a suite-Nice!
3.a 5 minute cab ride to the Pan Ameician pier for Royal.
4.The Casino
5.The live music in the Casino
6. A bell staff that never dropped the ball-no fiascos

If our expecting a expansive property such as Westin -this is not a resort
If you need a great pre or post cruise stay this is your property

We stayed at this hotel after a cruise. If you are cruising via Carnival, you won’t find a better hotel location as the Sheraton is across the street from the cruise terminal; while many others were waiting at the terminal for cabs, we took our luggage and walked one block to check-in.

Check-in was busy but efficient. We arrived eight hours early (from our cruise) so our room wasn’t ready (of course, we didn’t expect it to be since it was 8:00 a.m.), but we checked-in and our bags were kept safe until our return that afternoon. Most of the people in the lobby seemed to be doing exactly what we were doing so even though it was crowded, we waited ten minutes tops.

Our room was surprisingly large. We booked via Priceline and paid $98.00 for a Sunday evening. The bed was comfortable. Everything in the room worked the way it should and we were very pleased with our evening at the Sheraton. The rooftop pool was small but clean and what a view! I’ve included several photos so you can see for yourself.

We had the best dinner at Palio, the hotel’s restaurant. We sat outside on the terrace and not only was the food delicious but the service was impeccable.

Checking-out consisted of calling down to let them know we were leaving and then when we reached the lobby, a doorman hailed a taxi for us. The entire stay was painless from start to finish.
