As some of the previous reviews have stated, the outside is very inviting as is the lobby, open air, checked tile floor, lovely plants. The side patio is also very cute but that is where it ends. We checked in for one night before a cruise and were greeted by a surly clerk who offered no help when we asked to check our large travel bags so we would not have to carry them upstairs. We knew there was no elevator but expected some help in this area. He said he was busy doing book work! After lugging everything up to the third floor we found a clean but sparse bedroom with a closet that had a peek thru to the adjacent room. The wall did not go all the way up! Not a very secure feeling. The bathroom was large, old and clean, kind of charming, but who needs just a charming bathroom! Our room was quiet enough and the beds just ok. The furniture in the room looked like it was retrieved from the Salvation Army. We were hoping for a quaint experience but instead got a letdown. Stay at the Marriott, a few steps away and forget about a local flavor. Not worth it!
