“Very nice museum but almost all in Spanish.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012 via mobile

Very well curated museum with nice exhibits but 6 out of 8 exhibits are entirely in Spanish. Thus, if you don't read Spanish, all you can do is look at stuff but not actually learn about the history and the art. In that sense it's not very tourist friendly. But it is pretty cheap to visit so you can enjoy it even if you don't read the descriptions.

“Worth it, but not amazing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

The museum offers a bit of air conditioned learning if you're looking to get out of the sun a few hours between touring the forts. It's the entire 2nd floor of the restored army barracks. There are 8 galleries, all of them seemingly curated by different people. There is no consistant flow or narrative. Some rooms have English translations, some do not.

The first gallery (native cultures still in existance in the Americas) and last gallery (pop/folk art from the Americas) are the best. The African/slave exhibit is also cool, but no English translation. Other rooms are art galleries devoted to local artists. Takes about 2 hours to see everything pretty thoroughly, less if you skip around. $6 fee.

“Beautiful museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

This is a very well curated, well designed museum in a historic building. Whoever is running the museum has a great eye and can really mount a fantastic exhibition. One caution: the 2nd time I went they were closed for an hour for lunch (12-1). Also, a nice gift shop with good prices. A must see!!
