I did this tour as part of a Old San Juan tour with Sun RICO tours. The Old San Juan part was great but the Bacardi Distillery part was a let down. For starters, the two drinks you get with this tour are a joke. They come in small plastic cups. The only good thing about them is that you get to sample any kind of rum drink you like including the Mojito.
They have a tractor pulled series of cars that take you to their presentation center which you could walk to from the receiving center. There, you are subjected to some Bacardi advertising where you find out they are "the number 1 selling brand in the U.S." Big whoop! I did find it interesting to learn about the history of the company and how they make rum. After the presentation, you see how they made rum before modernisation as well as various mementos from the company's past including the medals their rum won at various world exhibitions. You also get to smell the different flavors of rum they make as well as the different ages of rum. At the end of the presentation part, they show you how to make the Mojito and the popular rum and coke.
After that, you walk out, reboard the cart train and drive by the outside of the distillery building, bottling building and administrative buildings. They drop you off at the Casa Blanca building where you can buy all kinds of Bacardi logo souvenirs as well as all their kinds of flavored rums. They sell a 12 year rum here that they don't sell any where else. It'll cost you $70 for a bottle.
This is one tour you can pass on. The only thing I can think of that it would be really useful for is if you want a bunch of stuff with the Bacardi logo on it or if you really want a bottle of their 12 year old rum. Otherwise, save your time and see Old San Juan instead.
