Great location, away from the hotel strip. We spent a week's vacation here in the main building, in a king suite. Nice accomodations and great view from the room. It was great to have a balcony to enjoy the view and ocean from a more private place. We walked to Old San Juan, it was a long walk, but we appreciated the exercise. There are 4 restaurants at the hotel, we tried 3, mostly using take out service. It would have been more helpful if full menus were available in the rooms (restaurants said you could take out anything on their menu). The grounds were nice for walking around, the garden area and the animals living there were enjoyable to visit. A variety of places to enjoy the sun and beach - chairs in the sand, pool side, hammocks, etc. Have a tour company in the hotel was very helpful for planning trips to places like the rainforest, which we really enjoyed.

Staff were great at check and in the bars and restaurants. We stayed in the Caribe Towers which has a deceivingly nice lobby but once you get to your floor you think thou are in another hotel. Rumpled carpets, drab decor, rooms were OK but very tired. Bed was comfortable and the room clean. Food is very expensive but actually quite good. All in all a mixed bag.

Room Tip: Ask to view your room before confirming your booking.

Ground and amenities were very good. Clean pools, swim up bar, hammocks, private beach with breakwater, tennis courts + gym, and a couple restaurants.

Downside was we were placed in a garden room...the room was great, but felt it was an 'undesirable location' due to the fact that it was downstairs and accessed by a special elevator and the staff seemed to like to hang out in the area talking loudly and at one point either ran a dryer or a drill at 3am for a while. Walls were very thin. Heard everything in the hallways and the room next door had too infants with parents who seemed to think that everyone loved hearing their kids yell and cry thru-out the night.

I only stayed one night and got the room 50% off including resort fee on priceline or I would have complained and moved. This is why I dropped it two stars...otherwise this was a typical Hilton and would have rated it a 5 for what I expected it to be.

But...buyer beware.

Room Tip: Stay away from the garden rooms....too noisy. Staff tends to linger and chat loudly. Must be a bre...

We stayed here for one night prior to leaving on a cruise. The hotel was arranged by the cruise company and we had no say in it so we weren't expecting much. We were wrong to be negative though as the hotel was great.

It was very busy as it seems all the cruise lines use the hotel for pre cruise accommodation and there were 4 ships embarking on the same day.

Our room was described as a villa and was quite a distance from the hotel reception area. If you have walking difficulties I would suggest ensuring you get room close to reception as the hotel is quite large.

Our room was great. King size bed , large TV and bathroom with a balcony view looking back at the city and the bay.

There was a nice beach that was protected from the sea. Even though the sea was very choppy the beach area was very calm and people were able to swim with no problems. The hotel also had a nice pool and a few bars and boutiques. There was also a Starbucks for coffee.

If we ever find ourselves in San Juan again I would stay here without hesitation.

First off, we stayed at the Lagoon Villas, which is a separate building from the main Caribe Hilton building. The check in lobby was nicely decorated, quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the enormous Caribe Hilton lobby. We were greeted very pleasantly and given complete attention which was nice. Our original room wasn't ready until 4pm (it was 1) but the lady there checked and found a room for us. That room was occupied but it the issue was b/c of some system glitch. No worries - they profusely apologized and quickly situated us in another room. The room faced the bay area facing the bridge to Condado and overlooking SJ. It was a really pretty view.

The room itself was great - a King Suite with a kitchen. The balcony was fantasic and the doors to the balcony were quite nice. The bed was great, everything about the room was nice. I highly recommend sleeping with the balcony door open as it brings in such a nice breeze.

The downside of the hotel:

- have to access the main hotel either around back or through the 2nd floor connecting hallway
- Not a big beach front

The good:

- The main pool area of the Hilton Caribe was fantastic. Pina Coladas pool bar was very welcoming. There were hammocks on palm trees, nice pool, loads of activities for folks and a little beach front area that had some nice chaise lounges, beds overlooking the ocean, etc.

They did a fantastic job of layout and accomodations, considering the hotel was not located on prime beach front property. Lots of breakwaters set up, which were mostly big boulders. Overall, really pretty set up and very much a vacation destination. They seem to be really kid friendly as well.

I loved the layout of the grand lobby of the main Caribe. Completely open air, lots of comfortable seating around, nice lobby bar, etc., made it very welcoming for vacationers.

Stayed one night and two half days before leaving for a cruise. Hotel was decent and clean, room was a bit musty but nice balcony view. Ate at the local restaurant "Lemon Grass" and it was very good.
Location is 5 mins to the cruise port and a short walk to a beach and boardwalk area which is nice to kill some time. Tried out the fitness center one morning and it was very nice. Check out my video of the Caribe Hilton Hotel and local area.
