“Our favorite hotel in the Caribbean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2011

We have been here many times and have never been disappointed. The grounds are magnificent, the rooms are great. They are spacious and clean and up to date.
The buffet breakfast is the most sumptious we have ever had. Fresh squeezed orange juice, champaigne and so much more.
What we miss is the Executive Lounge, that was closed for economic reasons. We also miss the restaurant that was always open all day, but now is only open for breakfast. Since the hotel is a 20 taxi ride to Old San Juan we would like more dining options on the grounds. We shall return, however.
We have yet to meet a more courteous and friendly staff, always willing to help and please.

We recently returned from an 11 day stay at the Caribe Hilton with our 13 and 17 year old kids and had a WONDERFUL time! Everything was exactly what we expected and more. Every staff member went out of their way to assist us with whatever we needed. Maria at the front desk checked us in and became our "go to" person throughout our stay and she was AWESOME. Thanks Maria! Eric at the concierge desk was also a lot of help. We watched the sunrise almost every morning with a cup of Starbucks before waking up our kids which I highly recommend! The staff at the lobby Starbucks are equally as nice as the Resort staff. Caribe Hilton opened in 1949 and they had a $60 million renovation in 1999. The beds are the most comfortable part in the resort which is the MOST important part of a Hotel room following a day of exploring. We hope everyone enjoys their stay as much as we did! Thank you Caribe Hilton!

Room Tip: Approach the front desk with a HUGE smile and great attitude. This might get up a free upgrade!

This hotel was amazing, especially as we had our doubts with it being in the city. You definately got the carabean feel when out the back where the beach is and then from the front of the hotel if you turn left you have the option of a `15 - 20 min walk into town where there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. If you turn right, you come to a public beach, but just before that there is a little shack that you can sit and get a cheap beer etc. You can see this little shack from the hotel beach but unfortunately you can't walk from the beach, you have to go round the street, It's ony a short walk though. Although the hotel is fantastic, the drink prices are very very steep which puts you off drinking here which is a shame with it having a swim up bar. As you can imagine it was always empty. We were half board, so we ate out for the other meal as the food was expensive too. The staff were not very friendly either. This would not put me off staying here as like I say the hotel is rather wow.

Room Tip: You will get better views from a higher room.

The resort was beautiful. In comparing it to the other local hotels, it definitely had the best views. The pool and ocean areas had may lounge areas, and there were always available places to relax regardless of what time it was. The staff were very generous, and we loved the bartender at the lobby bar. He was very nice, and had great advice as far as attractions. He also made delicious drinks. The hotel was a 5 minute cab ride from Old San Juan, and a 10 minute cab ride from the airport. The rooms were very clean, and we were given an upgraded room without even knowing it! Our room has a mini kitchen in it in case we wanted to cook our own food. We would definitely stay there again. And most importantly, the price was reasonable. Great extracurricular activities and restaurants.

Stayed a week for a conference at the nearby Convention Center. The Convention Center is about a 15 minute walk and at one point you must cross a busy street. However, having the hotel on the water is a nice way to relax after a day of work. The hotel has its own lagoon area that is nice to swim in - the waves are subdued. There are also several nice bars, including one swim up bar. I had a room with a nice view looking east toward Isla Verde, so the sunrises were spectacular. The rooms were modern and clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. They will tell you to take a taxi in to Old San Juan (about $10-15), but on a nice day, you can walk (about 1-2 miles), or even catch the bus for about a dollar (runs every 15 minutes) and save the taxi ride for heading home after dark. A cab ride to/from the airport is around $25 each way.

Unfortunately, all of the east facing rooms are right above some very, very noisy ventilation units on the lobby/restaurant roof. It makes it difficult to have the patio door open if you like to fall asleep to the sound of surf, or a nice tropical breeze (and I was on the 7th floor - those poor folks on the 2nd or 3rd floors must have been deafened). In addition, this is a tourist hotel. It is packed with a lot of tour groups and pleasure seekers. The restaurants are ok, but IMHO overpriced. A short walk across the bridge will get you to Condado restaurants and nightlife. There are also some good restaurants in Old San Juan.

Room Tip: Ask for a west facing room - the east facing rooms are over noisy ventilation units

The Caribe Hilton in San Juan was perfect! It was close to a most everywhere. But, because of it's beautiful beach which is the only beach that isnt public, is calm warm and nice. You can rent kayaks and other fun stuff get snacks and drinks from the bar not to far away and hop in the pool afterwards! Make sure to set up farther away from the hotel though beacause of lots of seaweed and Coarl in the water the closest to the hotel. We spent 2 days of hanging out at the hotel. They have many restaurants in walking distance. One of which the whole family loved, pinnacolada club. My dad loved the skirt steak and mashed plantains. I loved all the food! Good service and good food. The rooms were exactly like other hilton rooms; nice, clean, and comfortable. Ask for the highest number room other than the governors suite. The one next to it. That is where we stayed and it had an amazing view. I think it was room 385 or something.... Not sure. But it was top floor next to the governors suite. The view was of palm trees and the ocean and even a small ruin. We could never get to see in it though for it was gated off. But over this was an amazing hotel with amazing views! Family friendly and just overall and amazing stay.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel 7/10-7/16 & we loved every second. We arrived at 12p on a.Sunday and although our room wasn't ready they checked our bags, allowed us to change into our bathing suits and explore the grounds. After enjoying the swim up bar (buy the tall glass for $22 and refills thereafter are $14 so long as you keep the glass, great deal bc its literally 3 drinks in one and they do not skimp on liquor, strawberry mojito & strawberry lemonade werte the best) We went to check on our room. It was ready at 2 oclock, well before their 4pm check in (Thanks Nicole!) Our room was on the 12th floor of the Hilton Honors Tower and it was amazing! Great size room, super clean, walk in shower and his&hers sinks. Our view was great, decent size balcony with table and two chairs. Every single moment I felt catered to, for my bday we went to Morton's Steakhouse, many steak selections, knowledgeable staff, they knew it was my bday so they provided dessert on the house followed with a picture of hubby n I printed up and given to me in a picture holder signed by all the waiters.... Oh! Lets not forget a personalized menu printed up with my name!!! I loved every second. The grounds are beautiful, theres snorkeling offered on site at their private beach. We tried just basic snorkeling and theres so many fish all around even in the shallow area it was beautil but spooked me so im glad we only spent $20 before venturing into an actual deep water excursion. The beach was relaxing, more.than enough chairs and towels, one of the employees sets up your umbrella once youre on your chairs. Many activities offered throughout the day such as latin dance class, pina colada tasting, bingo, etc. We got breakfast included in our room rate and it was such a treat! Delish custom made omelets hmmmm. Take the bus to old san juan, cross the street when you reach Subways restaurant and walk towards the.highway. Bus stop or Parada.is to the right. Have exact.change .75 cents and take any bus to the last stop. Make sure to eat.at Raices! Delicious food and strong drinks. Just enjoy Puerto Rico! It's such a beautiful place, I'm already planning to go back im in love with this PR!
