“Beautiful view and pool.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013 via mobile

We stayed before our cruise. Trip from the airport is a little long just because of traffic, but this hotel is a short ride away from Old San Juan and the cruise terminal. Hotel is clean, staff friendly. Our room wasn't ready when we got there so the hold your luggage allow you to change into swim suits and head to the pool. They call your cell when the room is ready. Large relaxing pool. Beach is clean. Food was the only down fall. It is just average and highly over priced. Stay in an ocean front room. Beautiful views and peaceful.

Good hotel on the beach. Room was spacious and very clean. Excellent Marriott bed. Great staff in the hotel including the concierge lounge. Good times can be had in the casino! Drink prices in all bar areas are definitely pricey!

I stayed there after my wedding and it was awesome. Check-in was very fast. They sent me later a complimentary bottle and a gift. Room service was great and fast. The hotel has a great location in which you can walk and visit stores, restaurants and other activities without having to get into a car.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are comfortable and have a great view.

We are here now, on our last night stay. We have been here three days. We are headed from here to St. Croix. We booked on hotels.com and saved about $60 on a partial ocean view room. We came here from Seattle, WA on the red eye, we got to the hotel about 1:30 and had the choice with a lower room ready right away or to wait for a higher room. We really appreciated this choice! We did end up going in the lower room and it has been lovely. We have enjoyed our room and balcony. The bed is very comfortable and the room is spacious for two.

Our complaints lie outside of the room itself. The restaurants, room service and bars and ridiculously overpriced. We would have enjoyed the ease of eating while at the pool but could bring ourselves to pay $18 for a sandwich. There is a great little burger joint across the street, Buns, and we found ourselves there for a quick lunch daily. One other small complaint is the beach is CROWDED with chair everywhere; it is difficult enjoying your time down there with 150 other people. The pool is more spacious with lots of seating; we found ourselves there most of the time.

This hotel is in a great area, we loved walking to dinner and for drinks. We ate at Via Appia, Ropa Vieja, and Tijuana; we enjoyed all of the restaurants.

Where do you go after a cruise (8 am) and your
flight home is late afternoon? 1st choice, to the Marriott.
Our day pass did the trick - full use of the
fitness centre, towels, pool and slide, sauna, beach
facilities, and la Isla Restaurant and Bar with its
Beer, sandwiches, food wraps. (We'll do this
again). 2nd choice - to be downtown touring
and shopping. We decided, our wallets needed a wee rest before
journeying back to Canada. No offence San Juan, you are
a beautiful city. We've become acquainted several times over the years.

My wife and I had booked this hotel through a travel service because we were cruising. The service had booked us in room 302 directly above the live music in the lobby at 1:00 am when we checked in. Milady Torres, the kind woman at the desk, changed our room to one on the other side of the hotel that overlooks the beach. Definitely not a bad experience with a beach view.

Room Tip: Above the 8th floor is a better choice

Stayed there during Christmas week. New lobby, very good location. Stuff are very friendly. Concierge are always there and very helpful.

I had to agree with the other review about not booking via expedia. we booked a double-beds room and got a king size bed room. we had a corner room which i was expecting it locates at ocean front (the picture on the reservation from expedia clearly shows that an ocean view). but instead our room is facing the street. we have to step outside to side balcony to see a little ocean view. front desk told me that all corner room facing street, and i found it out it is not true. I guess Marriott treats reservation from Expedia differently.

The beach is unbelievable crowded and dirty. I am very surprised to see some of review here stating "a beautiful beach". all the chairs are taken with a towel left on it. if you are a beach lover or like to swim in the ocean, skip this beach completely. If you have to stay in this hotel, you have to get a room not facing street otherwise you will be very disappointed as i am.

Personally i will definitely visit the island again, but won't stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: get an ocean front room, away from street. the music from across the street never stop until 2am. th...
