“Castillo de San Cristobal in Old San Juan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

Great old Spanish fort started in 1521 and not completed for more than 150 years. Now a national park in Old San Juan. It was used for the film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and was the Spanish castle in Cadiz in the movie.

“Great history...fabulous views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

You can almost feel the history of this place as you meander through. Very well preserved fortress built by the Spanish with stunning vistas of the sea and the city of Old San Juan. Be sure and take your camera for great and numerous pictures. The evening time is the best for cooler temps and great sunsets. The fortress does have lots of stairs and steep inclines, so may not be completely assessible for the physically challenged.

The turrets and guardhouses on top afford wonderful views. You can almost imagine the ships and battles of the old days! Don't miss the dungeons either. A must see in Old San Juan and in my opinion, much more beautiful than El Morro.

A must see. The church is beautiful. I was forunate enough to attend a Mass and a special service for children. The interior of the church is breathtaking.

“History with a view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

This is a great historical site and overlooks the water. You can feel what the soldiers must have felt and wonder how they built this grand enterprise. This site can bring you back centuries and have you relive the early part of our history. Look out feel the ships, have a vision of the battles and enjoy the view.
