“Sight to see!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

Almost missed this one. Located at the end of Caleta Las Monjas, The San Juan Gate is steeped in history. Walking through these gates you are instantly taken back in time to an era when this gate was what kept enemies from entering this small town. Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful!

“History!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

Before Viejo San Juan was catering to tourist and the city was apart of the United States this city was a completely walled off with only one main entrance being this door here. The door has been maintained and is an amazing place to get a view of the bay at pretty much sea level. Also you will be able to walk hugging the wall at the base that surrounds the city (partially). I promise you will like this area.

“Photo Opportunity”

Stroll around the Old San Juan walls and you'll come to this gate. Easy to imagine 3-400 years ago using this gate to enter the city. Nice place for photos.

“If you like forts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

this is a good place to visit. Very historic. And very scenic. Highly recommended. It's walking distance from town, but there is a free trolley that will take you anywhere in Old San Juan.
