“Friendly and neat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

My husband and I stayed at the Casablanca the night before our cruise. The hotel is decorated in a way that invites you to come in and relax. The staff are very welcoming, and let you know right away they want to make you comfortable. As others have stated there is no elevator, but their bellhops had our luggage up the stairs and waiting outside our room before we could finish checking in, and down the stairs before we could finish checking out the next morning. If you are only staying for one night, they will put you on the 5th floor (top), longer stays are reserved for lower levels, as the manager explained. The room was small, but very clean and there was a sitting area outside the room that, if decorated with a little imagination, could add to the ambiance. The building is an old building, so if you are looking for something that looks like it was built yesterday and has no character to distinguish it from all the rest, this will not be for you. But if you like historical locations and a place with personality, then this is perfect! The hotel is in a great location to restaurants and historical sights that are within walking distance, plus for those who do don't like to walk, there is a free trolley that runs throughout Old San Juan, They will hold your luggage even after you check out so you can wander. We left ours and came back when we were ready to head to the cruise ship (the port is within walking distance). The only challenge to a perfect score, was that the bed was EXTRA firm, especially when compared to our memory foam. Also, if you are a light sleeper you may want to ask them to put you in a room a little farther away from area that overlooks the bar because apparently it gets a little loud on Saturday nights. I am a light sleeper, but was so tired I didn't hear anything, but my husband woke up around 11:00 and told me about the noise the next morning.
I wouldn't attempt to rent a car, I doubt you could find anywhere to park it. The streets were made for horse and buggy and walking and the traffic is crazy busy, so take a taxi from the airport (21.00, plus 1 for each piece of luggage). Put on your tennis shoes and have a fun exploring, we did.

Room Tip: We were in 5c, which put us close to the overlook of the bar area, and is where the noise comes from...

Absolutely loved this hotel. Beautifully decorated lobby and clean modern rooms. I love design and this hotel was marvelously done. Spend time just looking at all the decorating touches throughout. Staff was brilliant and more than helpful. Had free wifi with quick connection. Could not be better located.

Located in old San Juan on a narrow cobblestone street is this building with a design on both the inside and outside of a site that should be in Morocco. The staff was especially helpful and because of our early morning arrival held our bags while we walked through the town. Upon coming back to the hotel our luggage was already in the room. I believe there are 5 stories but no elevator just stairs. Within easy walking distance of several Puerto Rican restaurants which served a great dinner. Hotel restaurant is open for breakfast but the prices are pretty high. One should note that the Royal Caribbean port out of San Juan is located on the other side of the bay and really is a huge walk so a taxi would be needed.

Would stay there again if in that area.

Room Tip: If possible a room on the second floor as there are steps, steps and more steps.

CasaBlanca Hotel is located in the heart of Old San Juan and in walking distance to everything and only a short cab ride to the beaches, etc. This is a historic property, not a modern hotel. You need to set your expectations accordingly. There is no elevator, again, not a problem if you are not mobility impaired. The staff is excellent, doing anything the can to help in any way they can. We had a room on the 4th floor in the back of the building. We booked a queen balcony and received a very large and private terrace. We experienced no city noise, so we were very pleased. Again, if you set your expectations properly, you will be very pleased with this hotel, its staff, and location.

Room Tip: Balcony, high floor, rear of property for quiet.

We booked this hotel months ago for the night before our cruise. Unfortunately the hubs injured his knee badly in the interim and is in a wheelchair until after the surgery. Since this hotel has no elevator we were a little worried. We got to the hotel about an hour before official check in and they were so kind as to rearrange our room to one on the second floor right next to the stair. Hubs managed to hobble up and the room was beautiful. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful even storing his chair for us so we didn't have to carry it up to our room. I can't wait to come back and stay again. I love the exotic decor and how all the little details have been thought through.

Room Tip: Each room is unique and special. You can't go wrong with any of them.

From the moment you walk in the door, the folks who work here are incredibly friendly and enthusiastic. The lobby had tons of character, with original artwork and a definite Moroccan feel. The rooms are nicely decorated. Not huge but more than ample. Comfortable bed, nice sheets. Lots of little details that make it unique. The bartender mixes a great mojito. Something that was especially helpful was that the staff is always ready with restaurant and bar recommendations. And they recommend the places that they like. Not tourist traps. Without fail, they recommended great places - a huge plus when you don't know your way around. Couldn't have been happier with this place.

Stayed here the night before a cruise on the Carnival Valor. Hotel is in the heart of Old San Juan, walking distance to the pier for departure (if you're OK with pulling your suitcase a few blocks... it's mostly downhill).

Nice ambiance. The place is modeled around the film "Casablanca," and it plays on a continuous loop in the lobby and restaurant. The rooms are small, but fine for a single night stay. It's an old building like the rest of this part of town, but that's part of the charm. No elevator, so you need to be OK with stairs. They had a bellhop who gladly took our bags upstairs to our room while we checked in and never even stuck around for a tip. I think it's part of the regular service since there's no elevator.

The rooftop has nice views of the city, and the funky bathtubs are just that... funky. The location is walking distance to everything, so it's a good base to explore the old city. We had breakfast in the hotel (Rick's Cafe, of course). I'd pass on that again. Marginal food and a bit pricey even with the guest discount. Lots of other options just steps away.
