Enjoying our stay at the Casablanca Hotel. Right in the middle of old San Juan. A short walk to restaurants, tourist sites, and the port. Room is small but adequate. Very clean. Balcony (room 4A) has a view up and down Calle Fortaleza, and the rooftop of the building opposite with air conditioners : ) No cupboard to hang up clothes. There is a valet stand, but my jackets were too long, and drag on the floor. Only one stand for a suitcase; had to open the second one on the floor. Drain in the sink took a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to operate. Plenty of hot water for a shower. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Hotel restaurant offers complementary coffee in the morning. As many have pointed out, the walk up to your room with a 20 kg. suitcase can be a bit trying. The desk clerk carried our bags to our room, however. Air conditioning and fan keep the room nice and cool. For arrival, our plane was delayed, and we didn't arrive until 10:30 p.m. Sent an email (to which they replied) and they kept our reservation. For sleeping, wooden shutters keep out the light, except for a semicircular window. Room was quiet, in spite of street noise. Bed was very comfortable, and we had an excellent night's sleep. Note: similar to buildings in Europe, the ground floor is not counted when numbering floors, so the 4th floor is really the fifth level.
