Good food, both Puerto Rican and other. It is a little crowded, but the mallorcas are awesome, the food is great. You should try it!

“Eat With the Natives”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

The fact that most of the tables are occupied by the locals lets you know that you are in the right place. It is the San Juan version of diner food. Breakfast is simple and good with a nice cafe leche (coffee with milk). We bought "Mallorcas" for the plane trip home which are wonderful sandwiches.

“Tasty Mallorcas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013 via mobile

I was looking for La Bombonera, which appears to have closed for good, when I stumbled on this little dinner which was just as good as what I was looking for. The mallorcas are tasty sandwiches made with a soft, pressed bread sprinkled with confectionary sugar. Ask for your mallorca with Swiss cheese instead of American. Enjoy.

“Mallorca Sandwiches - YUMMY!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

This place has got the best ham & cheese mallorca sandwiches. They were delicious and very inexpensive. Looking at what other customers were eating as well, it looked like the lunches were delicious as well (rice & beans, etc.)

“Truly classic; traditional food in a 1940s setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

On a glorious Tres Reyes Epiphany Sunday, walking Fortaleza and San Francisco, we searched for early breakfast before starting the day. We searched, and so were dozens of other tourists ... even though most establishments were closed as residents slept or attended Mass.

Mallorca however was open, and despite being packed, they were skilled at handling the crowds. And the crowds were obviously enjoying the experience. The breakfast was in a diner style, served by waiters in black uniform, efficient if silent in their manner. The food was traditional and the sort of thing you would find in Mama's kitchen - hearty, simple, delicious. Prices were excellent. And the baked goods available for takeout were a delight.
