Have just returned from 2 week stay at the Jewel Runaway Bay. I don't know where to start with this review as the whole 2 weeks was just fabulous from start to finish. Cannot understand why the Jewel does not have a 4* rating it so deserves it. The place is very clean not only the rooms but all the resturants, public area's, bar's and toilets are kept to a very high standard by all members of staff who genually take a pride in the jobs they do.

The 5 different resturants plus the the Coral Bay Buffet are all excellent with plenty of choice for everyone. We visited all of them more than once during the 2 weeks. Each one has something different about it and the service was second to none plus the food and amount of courses and choice made some of our resturants look very very poor.

We loved the Jade Samuri not only for the excellent food cooked in front of you but for great entertainment by the chefs whilst cooking your dinner.

The Platinumn was again a favorite the food was excellent and the novelty value of how the food was served was exciting. My surf & turf was no ordinary one!!! Oh no it was a Sirloin Steak yummy with a whole Lobster Tail!!! My husband loved his dessert served in a Tonka Truck and my heavenly Chocolate Dessert came in a Treasure Chest soo exciting.

The Moonstone Italian resteruant was just as excellent with food ranging from delicious Pasta's to sucellant Lamb and great Fish. Again 4 courses if you could manage in a beautiful setting by the sea.

The Coral Bay resturant was the self service area which i am glad to say did not look or feel like a school canteen. Lovely surroundings each morning looking out to sea whilst eating a fabulous breakfast so much choice it was amazing and nice and hot. Evening Buffet was just as lovely with so much to try.

We both loved the entertainment the resident band were very good the Steel Band were excellant we went both Sunday evening's a show not to be missed not just great young musicians but so entertaining and sooo much energy. The band and singer at the Cocktail & Pool Party were very good as was the singer in the Coral Bay.

It was so lovely not to have to wake at the crack of dawn to put towels on sunbeds!!!! There was always plenty. Beaches, Pools & new Waterpark were excellant as were the watersports. Loved the Hobbycat glad i didn't chicken out of coming down the Big Yellow slide in a Big Blue Doughnut!!! Not bad at 65!!!. The snorkelling was fantastic lots of very pretty fish saw different fish each day we went.

Well i could go on praising The Jewel Runaway Bay for such an excellent 2 weeks stay which was a lovely surprise from my husband for my 65th birthday. A big Thank you to the following staff who where so happy pleasent and such cheerful people that made our stay such a joy.

Wilmay Johnston - Our room maid who was so lovely and helped so much to releive the very annoying mosquitos!!! They seemed to love me for some reason.

Sherlee - At main reception who made us so welcome and arranged without me knowing for a Birthday Cake & lovely letter to be put in our room. Such a surprise.

Annmar, Claudia & Richard in the Coral Bay. Always helpful, chatty and such nice people it was a pleasure to see their smiley faces at breakfast & Dinner.

Jason, Christopher thanks for all the lovely cocktails and gin & tonics for hubby.

Logan,Andre, Kelvin - for all the lovely service in the resturants you all are excellent at what you do.

Finally a huge Thank You to the very funny and entertaining chef of the morning' s EGG BOY. What a joy he kept us so entertained could not but want some sort of egg each morning. He is great.

Sadly we had to leave but a huge thank you to all your staff Scott who are so good at there jobs cheerful and happy always ready with a smile. They are a credit to you and we will hopefully be able to return soon for another relaxing holiday. Please pass our thanks on to the people i have mentioned as they really did make our stay one we will not forget. Keep up the good work Scott you have a very special place in paradise. Ray & Sandy room 2132. Xx

Stayed there from March 11-18, 2015 with my wife and two kids (9 and 7). This is a low key, family resort with well above average amenities. Never felt busy and we were there at Canadian March break.
We all really enjoyed the waterpark. We've been to Beaches, TCI and this waterpark is as good if not better. The slides were bigger and more suited to older kids. Lazy river was better too. There were private cabanas, which were really nice for parents. There was drink a food service in the waterpark and we spent several afternoons just lazing about there.
Golf is included and the course is just across the street via a golf cart shuttle. I played twice and both rounds took about 3 hours each. Not very busy at all. I'd rate the course conditions as 3.5/5 and 4/5 overall for fun and enjoyment. Be prepared to tip your caddie in addition to paying the caddie fee.
The beach was really nice, shallow entry with coral reef about 100ft out. You could easily snorkel from the beach with your kids and see fish. Beach chairs aways seemed available.Make sure you book your glass bottom boat ride. It's fun and included.
Food was very good. The pizza place was the best. Fresh made and very delicious. They make an amazing gluten free pizza. The teppanyaki was fun...don't miss it. Moonstone's (Italian) was probably third best. I prefer sit down breakfast...head to Platinum's for this. Try the fresh made banana bread...very delicious! Drink service was quick and never seemed to wait for a refill.
My son (7) enjoyed the kids club. The lazer tag was a huge hit (sign up early).
We stayed in the plunge pool room. Highly recommended upgrade if you are travelling with kids.
Wifi was spotty in the rooms. Very good in the lobby if you need it.
Overall, I was very pleased with the value and quality of the our stay. Something for everyone in the family. It is not a 5 star resort...so don't have unrealistic expectations. It is a fantastic resort for the price and, when you factor in the waterpark and golf, it's a safe bet for a great vacation.

Room Tip: Plunge pool is worth the upgrade. Extra space in the room and a private patio.

this was our 3rd time at this resort in 2 years -I am a golfer and having the course across the street is perfect - I always walk and with the caddy it is like being on the PGA tour!! I like to play early - come back for a swim and a beer -have a snooze -play beach v/ball in the pm then a few more drinks -quiet time and dinner at one of the very nice restaurants. Cant wait to come back!!!

Lovely friendly family hotel but don't be put off going as a couple. I went with my wife for our anniversary and we has a fab time. There is something going on day and night to keep the children entertained.

The golf is free at the attached course but you must have a compulsory caddy at a cost of about $17 for 18 holes. The course was in good condition and it was nice to play in the sunshine in December. The practice ground is a bit short as you can only hit up to 5 iron but the balls are free. There are practice chipping and putting greens.

There is a dive site based in the hotel (run separately, the diving was reasonably priced and the equipment in good condition.
The food was good with a reasonable choice. The a la carte restaurants were all also very good.

The general manager is always walking around and wanted to hear guests feedback. The staff were all very good and there was always some activity going on for those who wanted to participate but there was never any pressure to partake. The only downside was that sometimes the activities music at the main pool was too noisy.

I would recommend this hotel for young families or couples.

This hotel has a lot going for it. The beach is nice and there are always chairs to be had, even in the shade. The restaurants are all good and reservations are easy to get. The ground very pleasant and not big enough that you feel you ned a shuttle. The west side of the resort is very quiet and hardly anyone uses the small pool that is there. The room was exceptional with a nice balcony, great shower and a flat screen TV. Mini bar was stocked every day to our liking. We had a 2nd floor room that had a great view of the grounds. I would not recommend the plunge pool rooms. I didn't ever see anyone using them as they are not heated, there is a wall to the side to give privacy but that means that there is no view from the terrace. Also the 2nd floor rooms overlook the terrace. Drinks were good and they had decent sparkling wine. There was never a problem getting service at any of the bars.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms with a balcony are recommended.

My family with 3 kids age 5,4 and 2 gave Jewel a try , and trust me we were NOT disappointed in any levels.

From the rooms to the service, there was nothing we could have complained about.
-Start with the rooms, we upgraded to a Ocean View Suite room 1035 absolutely stunning views of both ocean, and Mountains as you go to your rooms. Rooms were always kept very clean and fridge always stocked.
-Beach was just gorgeous the water crystal clear, white sand, plenty of lounging area.
-Staff From Keisha to Eljon the staff is what makes this resort in my eyes a true 5 star.
-Pools all very nice but we are more beach and water park family
-Water park small but very good you can spend hours just relaxing on the lazy river ride
-Food , We have been to plenty of Resorts on various islands, this had to be the best food we have had , from the presentation to quality of the food just soooo good... Be sure to have breakfast at Platinum excellent service and fantastic food.
-Kids club , is excellent we left the kids there for a few hours one day and they didn't want to come back with us, the staff at the club just wonderful.
Overall I have to Say Scott you have done an excellent job on this resort, we will be back in November...
