“For the Best Food See Doreen (food hut nearest to bathing pool on the beach)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Doreen cooks slow cooked food with awesome seasonings at a great price. She takes pride in her business and is an honest God Fearing woman

“The place to go to see the Blue Lagoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

The beach is lovely. Getting there is a bit of a hassle because the last part of the road leading to the beach is in terrible condition.
If you want to see the Blue Lagoon, you have to go here to get the boat to do that.

“Crystal Blue and Turquoise Water and Off the beaten path”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

what a beach. after a bumpy drive to the beach you are welcomed by a beautiful blue and turquoise cove. Natural and free this beach is not to be missed for the nature lover and adventure seeker. Lots of little restaurants dot the sand and you can choose where you want to go. Just wish they had a shower facility but it seems the time we went might have been off.

Ok - not trying to deter anyone - the beach is excellent for snorkeling, but i was stung by a sea egg (sand colored) thought it was a stone while walking into the water and this kinda ruined my experience. Had to use tweezers to pick each spiny So just be careful wading in. There are parts of the beach that you cannot enter due to the black version of the sea urchins dotting the reef that was surprisingly really close to the shore.

but hey I'm invading their natural habitat. Won't stop me from revisiting. Ill just wear some water shoes

“Amazing: like in the movies!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

This is the best beach of Portland! White sand, few people, coconut trees and amazing food on the beach. Try the stand just at the edge of the beach were the pots are almost touching the water. Really tasty. Ask for coconut water, and the lady will open a fresh coconut for you!

“Experience a local beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

We applaud the local efforts to keep Winnifred Beach free of fees. At the same time, there needs be more of an effort to keep it clean. Also, be aware of the hustle before you arrive. Not a lot of opportunity to sit peacefully.
