“brilliant wilk's bay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

my partner and i stayed at wilk's bay at the beginning of May for 4 nights. It was the highlight of our 5 week vacation!! (we went to the usa after jamaica). we stayed in the cottage closest to the water, which was just perfect (very clean, comfortable and plenty of room). angela was our cook and looked after us very well, she cooked beautiful food and helped to give us a very personal, homely experience. we didn't want to eat out at all when we had such lovely food cooked by angela at the resort. angela also looked after our washing, which was a huge help given we would be away for five weeks.

jim and mary were terrific hosts, showing us local sites which gave us a great overview of port antonio from a local's perspective. they were extremely friendly and attentive, and have done such a great job setting up wilk's bay as a very peaceful and friendly place to visit.

wilk's bay itself is so beautiful, and there are many nice spots around the bay to sit, eat and drink, or just do nothing! kayaking to frenchman's cove and into the blue lagoon was amazing too!

On the last night at wilk's bay, my now fiancé proposed to me on the tiny beach at wilk's bay!!! this lovely moment was followed by a gorgeous meal on the beach, all made possible by jim, mary, (angela's terrific cooking!) and chow. it was such a gorgeous set up on the beach and made for a very romantic evening! thank you again to the staff at wilk's bay for making our engagement even more special!

also a mention to warren, the driver, who got us to kingston safely and also transported us to reach falls!

would highly recommend a trip to wilk's bay!!! we would love to return one day!

Room Tip: we loved how close our cottage was to the water! perfect for couples.

Just got back from a weeks stay in Port Antonio at Wilks Bay. Jim and Mary and the staff including Franklyn, Lorna and Brenda were fantastic -- you dont have to do anything but enjoy your vacation, everything is taken care of for you --- including Jamaican food of your choosing for meals (on the beach if you like). The view at Wilks Bay is extraordinarily beautiful. Frenchman's cove, San San Beach and Blue Lagoon are all within walking/swimming or kayaking distance. Kayaks, snorkeling and beach gear are available for you at Wilks Bay. A driver/butler is also provided for you --- kudos out to Mr. Green ---- they take you to and from the airport and can take you into Port Antonio or to visit other attractions such as Somerset Falls, Reich (Reach) Falls, Trident, Gee Jam or rafting down the Rio Grande. Have stayed at Sandals and some of the other resorts before, they have nothing on staying at Wilks Bay, you still feel extremely pampered, yet get to enjoy the rest of what Port Antonio and Jamaica has to offer.

We just got back from a week at Wilks Bay Resort. It was my husband and I with our daughter her fiance our son and his girlfriend. We stayed in the 3 bedroom house. First Mary and JIm, just outstanding hosts from my first email to our send off yesterday. They were attentive, kind, a wealth of knowledge of the area, for things to do and arranged everything for us. Jim even did morning exercises with us, took us out to eat, etc etc. just the nicest hosts you'll ever meet. The house was beautiful, the scenery from the sea to the jetty, the pool, the grounds just breath taking. Our chef Angela was tops, we ate breakfast and dinner everyday as a family and everything was delicious (and we're food lovers), the rest of the staff..Franklyn, Chow, Keran, Lorna, Dorna and Ebony...just outstanding. We were pampered and spoiled. We enjoyed Frenchmans Cove, the Blue Lagoon, San San Beach ( all we could walk to, right next door) Somerset Falls, Reach Falls and checking out the jerk shacks,,(Jim will tell you which ones), as well as a nice evening at GeeJam, again thanks to Jim and Mary, hooking us up.They also have kayaks and snorkeling equipmet available which we used everyday. This was our first Villa vacation, and thanks to the Lowe's we'll be back. Can't forget Warren our driver, he got us everywhere safe, and looked after us when we got adventurous in Port Antonio. My kids surprised me with a massage and Jim and Mary arranged for a masseuse to come to the house for the best massage I ever had. I give our highest recommendation to Wilks Bay, we've done the all inclusives..Sandals, Iberostar...etc, there's no comparison. If you want a little piece of paradise, look no further, we were just there!

We went for a week-long yoga retreat last October, 5 adults and 2 boys. If you love yoga and they are offering another retreat, DO IT! There is nothing like doing yoga on the dock... savasana at sunset.. ahhhh. Yoga or not, I HIGHLY recommend visiting Wilks Bay. I stayed in the little cottage by the pool and beach, and loved it - it has everything you need and it's very quiet. My friends had the bottom floor of the next building - it was like a big apartment, including a kitchen. Just as everyone has mentioned, the owners, Mary and James, are so gracious. The staff are awesome - we can't say enough good things about them. The service is impeccable. Meals were served at various locations on the property - the dock, the beach, the patio, the lawn - and the food was excellent. Wilks Bay is so beautiful and peaceful, a paradise. You can stay at the resort and totally relax, or you can go on various day trips. The kids and most of the adults were in the pool every day. We used the sea kayaks quite a bit, walked to Frenchman's Cove next door to Wilks Bay, went into Port Antonio to do a little shopping, paddled to Blue Lagoon, drove to Reach Falls, and even had massages. It was very difficult to leave... We plan to go back!

Room Tip: The little cottage was awesome if you want something cozy for 1 or 2 people, but I think all of the...

it was amazing, beautiful place....worth the trip...our only regret is that we didnt stay longer. The rooms were HUGE. they were apartments and not rooms with separate bedroom, bathroom a small walk in rome and a separate kitchen and lounge. all the accommodation has views to the pool and ocean.
the hosts were amazing, they gave the stay that extra something special. they took us on a tour around port antonio town and on the last day took us to dinner where i had the most amazing seafood. they also took us to Jamrock? which was great...all complimentary and it was fun it felt like hanging out with friends!!!
we had our own personal cook, Brenda, who made us lobster, jerk pork and her famous goat curry and coconut pie. the food was amazing that we only ate outside once.
spent a lot of time at the pool. at the time there was only one other family there so it was very peaceful and idyllic!all the other staff were friendly and courteous and the grounds and pool always clean
i am already planning my trip back

The most perfect holiday ever with my beloved and our three boisterous boys. We wanted a peaceful few days of rest and recreation and to explore the North East part of the island. Wilks Bay and this area of Jamaica is idyllic. We had come from cold and rainy England and we all adored the sunshine, the beautiful pool, the sandy beach, which was strewn with coral and driftwood, the clear, blue of the sea, the new, stylish, spotless, apartment with big beds and air conditioning and our lovely housekeeper Angela, who looked after us and cooked fantastic meals. The boys loved her food, especially the breakfasts and her lobster, roast potatoes and pineapple tart. They loved foraging for fruit and learning about the flora and auna with Franklin who has tended the gardens at Wilks Bay for 15 years. They loved toasting marshmallows on the bonfire at the beach party with Chow and drinking his fruit punch while they danced to Bob Marley. James and Mary were the perfect hosts who love the place and have created a very special resort rooted in the local community. We have travelled extensively around Jamaica in the past. It is a beautiful island with beautiful, kind and courteous people. There are some fantastic resorts like Strawberry Hill and Jake's Place, but for me, Wilks Bay and the Port Antonio area are the best. 11 out of 10. We will return....

My family and me spend the most fabulous holyday in our life in this wonderful place. It is really a paradise. The house is like luxury five star hotel: Amazing views, private swimming pool, charming rooms with king size beds, precious gardens. The staff is so nice always there to help you, cocking your choices of menus, preparing picnics. Cocktails were always ready and snacks anytime. The children were pampered as they always have suits or tricks for lunch and dinner. I cannot describe the beauty of the surroundings, beaches as you cannot imagine with crystal water. The experience of swimming, scuba or diving is awesome. We made excursions walking thorough rivers, horseback riding; river rafting with Jamaican drivers is really an experience. On our last day we made a party with friends in the garden and it was like magic. The food was so beautiful placed and so very well cocked, massages were available for all our guests and nail and hand spa as well. We are still dreaming on this place and hoping some day we will be able to come back.
