“Remarkably Relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

For starters, Portland is the most beautiful part of Jamaica - rain forest, beautiful beaches and mountain rivers. We stayed at the Jamaica Palace for one week, January 2013. From the moment we checked in, the staff at the JP made us feel at home and in good hands. Throughout our stay, we were ably assisted with event planning, hookups with drivers, etc.The JP is a huge, remarkable structure. Our room, with it's high ceilings, was bright, airy, and clean. The grounds are beautiful. The art is wonderful. The pool is beautifully maintained. The food is fantastic. Three chefs were on staff during our stay. Several times, we met with them in the morning to discuss items not on the menu for excellent meals at dinner that included steamed whole fish with vegetables, curried lobster with rice and peas, excellent soups and salads. The service, overall, is very good, gracious and classy.

We had a wonderful, comfortable stay.

Room Tip: Go to the top tier of the plaza next to the pool to catch a stunning view of the Trident Castle acro...

AMAZING.. I stayed here as part of a tour of the island. As the tour bus cruised around the blue lagoon i was in mesmerised by this small fishing villiage. When we pulled up outside I was taken in by its grandness, marble floors, decadent decor, beautiful rooms that led onto a terrace. The roon was enormous, imaculate, beautiful. Exactly like the pictures on the website. Outside my room was a staircase it lead up to the most incredible view of Jamaica, the moutains and the mist dispersing as the sun rose. Lush tropical gardens lead you to a pool in the shape of Jamaica!! The staff were more then hospitable, Port Antonio is definatley the perfect honeymoon location and I will be sure to return for that reason!

On entering the property you feel as if you were alone, dont know if it was the time of year we visited. The atmosphere change when we were greated by the front desk receptionist who gave us a brief overview of the property and highlighted us on places we could visit during our stay, a very pleasant girl.
Things got better when we were shown to our room, quiet spacious, clean well decorated with art. The air was fresh and you could hear birds chirping all around the property.
The dinner was lovely, a little pricy but taste was excellent. Staff were friendly and you got a feeling as if you were at home.
I am planning a vacation next year with my family and Jamaica Palace Hotel will definitely be the place for our stay. see you soon.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upstairs, you will get a nice view and pretty quiet.

Very grand looking place with lots of paintings and sculptures around it. As other visitors had mentioned, it did feel like we were they only ones staying there. Check in was easy, staff were friendly. We ate at the restaurant which was nice, bit pricing though. Room was clean and overall it was a good stay.

Stayed there once with my family when we lived in Jamaica 2006-2007. It looks very impressive from the outside, but the rooms are un-inspiring and dark. It's like being in a cage when you're inside. The mattresses were stone hard. I hardly slept at all that night.
It's like this place pretends to be something it isn't. Only possitive thing was the pool. Very nice. We had dinner in the restaurant. Very ordinary food that you can easyly get better at half price in town.

Stayed at this hotel,on our tour of Jamaica. When we arrived it looked a quite grand place. Went to our room ,Quite classy decorations, and very comfortable. Had a walk around.A really big very impressive place, although parts of it has seen better days. All over different kinds of art work. Some nice some a bit wierd. Some parts as if time had stood still. It must have been very impressive when first built.
We had dinner in the evening, which was very good. Then Breakfast in the morning, also very good,as was the service. We were a group of 15 people, and appeared to be the only people staying there, which seemed a bit wierd as it was a massive hotel.

We booked through hotels.com and told that this hotel was on the waterfront.. Which it's not! Very large property so if you like privacy, this place is for you. We found the atmosphere a bit too creepy, felt like the twilight zone with all the strange art and the fact that it felt like no one els was staying there! The hotel seems like it was a cool place back in it's day, maybe 40 years ago. The place is very clean and the older German manager is very nice. However, we checked out after one night because we didn't like Port Antonio and hotels.com had misrepresented the location. Would not recommend staying here.
