Before I start i should say the general staff at Geejam were wonderful. 5*.
The hotel itself is tired, there were bits falling off everything in our room. on top of that there was no storage space so our clothes had to live out of the bag/ on the floor. the room was small and cluttered and the outside space was the same.
there is nowhere to swim, the beach is a joke - you have to descend legions of stairs, out of the hotel, through a public scrub land over a relatively busy road to the beach area which really is a headland. the sea is a reef which was not very good for swimming at all.
Finally the management were pathetic - (they have opened a new resort called Trident which we went to looking for an escape - think South Fork or Elderado and you have it - the man made beach bay was overlain with power cables, next to the same road and had a large eel sunbathing in it). the result is all the customer services are based here and not Geejam - they give you a mobile phone, its call centre nightmare all over again. They were surprisingly unhelpful and quite condescending (Floyd). no recommendations were made for us to make trips anywhere. An example of the disconnect was the security guard who made me tea in the morning (no way of getting any service before 730am), he recommended Boston Beach for a day trip which the concierge said was too dangerous - we subsequently found out this is one of the best places to visit on the island and we missed it (my fault for not researching more perhaps). In the over riding impression was that we had been a bit of bother to them and that everything we requested was a bit of a chore.
If this was a B&B then i would have been happy - but it isnt they were charging me over US700 per night with taxes etc and the food is US$30 for a main course (Good food but very small and dull menu).
This is a stitch up, and i wrack my brains to understand why i hated it and others have loved it. i think more than anything its down to the fact that Geejam the management company have taken their eye off the ball on other projects allowing the property to become tired and leaving you to the mercy of a telephone answered by people who should not be in the service industry.
We went to 3 other hotels on the island - large and small - Geejam was not that good for starters and appallingly over priced.
cant help only went in one and hated it

Firstly, let me say how shocked I was to read your review. I only wish you had brought your dissatisfaction to myself, or my business partner's attention, at the first sign of any problem. Both our numbers are in the Geejam cell phone, which you are automatically given on check-in.
There are a number of points that I would like to address - some here, and some I hope, when we are able to speak in person.
You mention 'doing your research', and we share this view. To this end, we have placed an A-Z in-room guide, in each room, specifically to encourage our guests to explore many of the beautiful natural attractions, that exist locally. Included is a section on the various beaches and 'hotspots', of which Boston is featured on both counts, as it's the original home of 'Jerk' food, and is only 15 minutes from Geejam.
Being a very small hotel, we recognise that the Bushbar menu may have its limitations, which is why we always tell our guests that we offer a bespoke service, where you can meet with our Chef Nigel to design your own menu. There are also additional room-service items mentioned in the A-Z.
Undoubtably, there was a terrible lapse of communication at our end, specifically with the centralised guest services. This service is normally carried out in person by the Bushbar staff, and calls to the front desk at the Trident are usually made, if the guests are 'off-property', and require a pick-up, or assistance of some kind. Again, we apologize for the problems this system may have caused.
I will be the first to say that the vibe, location and Geejam-style may not be for everyone - hence the imaging on our website, which suggests a different experience to a regular hotel. If you were to look at past reviews by multiple contributors, who are obviously also seasoned travellers, many of your points have not been detrimental to their Geejam experience. Just by way of example, another couple stayed in the same room a few days later, and co-incidentally their review was also published on April 25th immediately below this, in German. We will cut and paste it from Google translate into English, to facilitate our English readers.
Unfortunately, this booking may just have been the wrong fit for your own personal taste and expectations. On the odd occasion that we have had a similar issue, we have pro-actively assisted the guest in dealing with their concerns, when they have been communicated to us.
Nevertheless, we guarantee 100% satisfaction, including full care & attention to ALL our guests. So if you would care to contact me, not only will I apologize to you personally, but also compensate you accordingly, as it is unacceptable that you would have had such a negative experience.
